A fantastic debate which really demonstrated how important preventing and treating stroke is, for #WorldStrokeDay. A great turn out and always very powerful to hear people's stories of their stroke and the care they received.
Thank you @munirawilson.bsky.social for hosting the #WorldStrokeDay debate in Westminster today, and for shining a light on the many challenges that so many stroke patients and survivors are expected to navigate alone, once discharged from hospital.

Yesterday I ran the Royal Parks half marathon in 2.35. It was a fantastic day with beautiful weather.

I'm so proud to have made it back from injury and barely being able to walk in March to complete this. There's still time to sponsor me to support Centrepoint - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/...

Joint Statement: LGBT+ sector stands up against racism

Amid rising far-right protests and racism, we stand shoulder to shoulder with LGBTQ+ communities—especially people of colour, Muslims, migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum.

Delighted to hear @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social highlight AI in Dudley's stroke care today. AI is helping all England's stroke units diagnose and treat stroke quicker. But access to key stroke treatments like thrombectomy is still a postcode lottery. Good progress but we need to go further

Behind the headlines designed to rack up anger, are countless stories of people supporting each other. I did some work supporting the homes for Ukraine scheme in the voluntary sector, and it's easy to forget just how much support there is out there. People care, but that doesn't get the clicks.
Day in, day out, I speak to ordinary people who are organising to welcome the asylum seekers accommodated in their towns.

They befriend, support them, reach out to them as fellow human beings.

That's the Britain I know, the one I see around me & we never get told about on TV.

We’ve heard that blind and partially sighted folks are unable to verify their age because it’s inaccessible. Have you tried?

Like so many policy ideas, a wealth tax is continually purported to be the answer to all our public service woes. This evidence to the contrary is fascinating and set out accessibly (for tax information!).
A UK wealth tax sounds simple: "tax the super‑rich, fund public services"

But it's not.

Our 16,000 word deep‑dive shows revenues are fragile, it puts growth, investment and jobs at risk, and there's no revenue before 2029.

Here’s the evidence:

It's a really difficult time for many of us, but there are many ways we can come together and support each other. Please do share.
With everything going on at the moment,(the high court ruling, Rowling, Trump, corporate pinkwashing etc) the LGBTQ+ community needs their allies more than ever.

This week on the Proudcast we discuss what it takes to be a good CIS ally.
