A big thing about all this though is even acknowledging his flaws it is just undeniably true that if Newson were somehow made president tomorrow it would mean there’s an immediate vital protective safeguard for trans lives in this country. People that don’t lede w that don’t care about trans lives.
I’ll never forget it and it should be important to you in terms of the info environment we share but there was a viral post where someone shared a clip of him literally saying there should be legal protections for trans people to play sports and it went viral here claiming he said the opposite.
Also this misinfo problem is so bad that even w the podcast clips it’s always in the context where he publicly restates his support for legal protections for trans people. The most he ever says is “well I get the concerns about sports but…” and goes on to say they should be allowed to play sports!
