when the feds essentially abandoned the scene today after gassing us, we saw upon returning to the intersection this pile of what we were pretty sure was alex’s coat & some of his clothes, a lighter & a crampon, with crime scene tape in it

I'm not saying CSM Waltz has to lead a brigade sized guard of honor to lay the Martyrs in state under the 1st Minnesota's standard, and above the 28th Virginia's captured standard, to show they fell in the same cause and deserve the same honors. But the thought does occur to me.

I find myself remaining opposed to capital punishment in the normal course of the criminal legal system and in favor of its swift and terrible application in the extraordinary circumstances of a fascist conspiracy against the Republic.
One thing that the past year has done to me is I’ve been forced to drop my principled opposition to capital punishment in all cases
