Spencer Cox: "Our nation is broken. We had political assassinations recently in Minnesota. We had an attempted assassination on the gov of Pennsylvania. And we had an attempted assassination on a president. Nothing I say can unite us as a country. Nothing I can say right now can fix what is broken"

“Ask for what actually fixes the problem — and then go out there and fight for it.”

On Monday, @elizabeth-warren.bsky.social came to NYC to talk about universal childcare, and why we shouldn’t listen to billionaires who say making life affordable for working families isn't possible.

This "golly, let's not let politics get in the way of friendship" pap that we hear from a lot of Trumpistas is basically a kind of gaslighting, as though burning down the constitutional order & kidnapping people to ship to gulags were just another ordinary policy disagreement.
One of the many contradictions of Trumpism is that the whole appeal of Trump is that he is waging TOTAL WAR on every other part of society. But then it's totally unfair if anyone else wants to fight back.
The guy behind Punk In The Park shared a statement after bands like Dropkick Murphys said they’ll never play it again due to his support of Donald Trump.

“We don’t have to see eye to eye on everything to come together and enjoy what unites us, great music, good times, and mutual respect,” he says.

Been thinking about the section in this @daviddoel.bsky.social video where he talks about how and why public opinion on trans issues has shifted so dramatically in just a few years. (Whole video is good, but the part I'm referring to is about 5 minutes in) www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJ4o...

Relatedly, playing through the insomniac Spider-Man games I was struck by how much the meta-story really reflects some of the most reactionary paranoias about the state of the world
Lowkey hate games resorting to non state actors as military antagonists as if the state wasn't mostly developed as the best method of marshaling martial power
PMC invades america i guess?

I've been saying for awhile in my direct friend circles: Tear them down, Girder and Beam
He’s not even popular or strong. They didn’t have to be muscled into complicity. They just convinced themselves, internally, that complicity was savvy and clever. That’s why they all have to be destroyed
Many powerful people in media have been making the conscious choice to kowtow to Trump, mostly but not entirely behind the scenes, since last Nov. Paramount cancelling Colbert is a rare high-profile and public example of the same corporate complicity. Sadly, authoritarian capture of media is working

in under 6 months, day time prime time tv for the largest news network (by viewers) has transitioned to openly embracing the term Nazi
Gutfeld: “We need to learn from the blacks. The way they were able to remove the power from the n-word word by using it. So from now on it’s: What up, my Nazi? Hey, what up, my Nazi? Hey, what's hanging, my Nazi?”

Kennedy: “Nazi, please!”

Gutfeld: “Thank God you did a hard ‘i’ there.”

This is the true final destination of a public and media that is completely and utterly incapable of knowing much less understanding things about the way the world works.

It’s basically kabuki theatre as government.

People say things and posture for the camera and it’s “governance”.
“We’re on it”? What do you mean “we’re on it”? DRILLING FOR OIL ISN’T SOMETHING THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY DOES. EVER. WHAT ARE WE DOING. *throws things*

I find “people don’t actually know how things work” has a lot of explanatory power.

I don’t mean this in a holier-than-thou way. I’m only vaguely aware of how my microwave or the car radio work. A lot of modern life is assuming the functioning of complex tech and models.

Protests aren’t the only tool in the anti-authoritarian toolkit, but they’re incredibly important. Protests help us see each other; they make it feel safer to refuse to obey the dictator, and make it more possible for us to organize mass non-cooperation.

It’s an essential step in the process.

That ‘I find myself having to defend someone I think is annoying from someone I know is dangerous’ quote really is a good distillation of our times. And many people in the center evidently think this is a difficult decision.
Wild to be up against naked fascism and the dismantling of human rights, separation of powers and free speech and be like man these guys kidnapping people and sending them to camps are making me just as worried as the wokes who hate when you say slurs. American centrism is awesome

Journalism ratfucked democracy. They wanted to be kingmakers, and in the process, purposefully downplayed how bad Trump and Republicans were.
Journalists decide what The Story is and they get mad at you when you tell them that
