"Send him to the moon, that's just how I feel."
"Leave those virtues in Canada, along with truth and justice. We don't want them in America. We are a soulless, immoral nation, dedicated to stupidity and evil," the secretary added.
Bessent: "I'd encourage Carney to do what he thinks is best for Canadians, not his own virtue signaling. We do have a USMCA negotiation coming up. He rose to power on an anti-American, anti-Trump message. That's not a great place to be when you're negotiating w/ an economy multiples larger than you"

Donald Trump Is Frightened
Trump wants to appear eager to minimize out-of-control clashes between government militias and protesters. But he doesn’t want to stop the things causing those clashes in the first place.

Soooo many headlines that Trump has "changed course" but that's not true.

Trump, at best, has temporarily softened tone, in reaction to backlash. Gestures are not ACTION.

There is no change until ICE is gone, real investigations are conducted, and meaningful accountability is achieved.
The intense fallout from the killing of Alex Pretti has forced President Trump to publicly change course in Minneapolis.

Listen to our White House reporters discuss the changes on today's episode of "The Daily."
Trump Changes Course in Minneapolis
The White House has been met with broad outcry over the killing of Alex Pretti, as well as pushback from Congress.

a lot of Democratic officials have asked the protesters to be careful to not "give Trump what he wants" and I think it's fair to ask them to do likewise

We’re proud to partner with @scottwiener.bsky.social on this bill asserting that if any gov officer - local, state, or *fed* - violates your clearly established constitutional rights, you should have a remedy.

I would add that clean air is one of the best things (positive externalities) there is, because DUH everyone breathes 24/7.

Children in school do better with clean air. Workers are less stressed (and more productive) with clean air. Everyone is not only healthier, but happier too.
Probably the most successful piece of legislation in US history, measured by social benefit generated per dollar spent. Also wildly popular, across demographics.

Without any public discussion or consultation of Congress, the Trump administration has effectively killed it.
The Trump administration has “virtually stopped enforcing the Clean Air Act,” lodging just one consent decree in a relatively small case since Trump’s inauguration, compared with 26 in the first year of Trump's first term, & 22 in Biden’s first year. peer.org/under-epas-z... 1/

Texas has passed California to become the nation's leader in utility-scale solar.

I don't know what that means but it sounds great for Texas.
Official data came in yesterday, and US solar continues to grow rapidly, with generation up 27% compared to last year!

Make sure to post their venmo too, I think me and about 70 million other Americans would like to send them some cash to show our appreciation for their heroic sacrifice in the face of your childish acts of evil.

Here, in three posts, are the written remarks by Bari Weiss at today's CBS News town hall meeting. Part one of three:

The basic fallacy in chasing votes by being "tough on immigration" is that the modal American's position on the issue is "Deport the Bad ones and keep the Good ones," and they alone know who is which, and that simply does not translate into workable policy. So this kind of gestapo stuff (1/2)

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

How can we have justice until ALL perpetrators face the legal consequences, as determined by our justice system?
It's not quite the most pressing issue at the moment, but the American people absolutely have a right to know the names of the federal officials who shot and killed a man peacefully protesting, who was on his knees, prone in the street when they shot him in the back.
