The Bay Area is at risk of massive transit service cuts if we don't pass a 2026 regional funding measure.

It cannot be overstated how disastrous cuts would be for our entire region.

Please read this thread for actions you can take to save Bay Area public transit. And share to spread the word! 🧵⬇️

MAJOR NEWS: @GavinNewsom signed SB 79, my bill allowing more housing near public transit — rail, subway, rapid bus.

It’s a huge step for housing in California. It’ll create more homes, strengthen our transit systems & reduce traffic & carbon emissions.

Thank you, Governor!

We’ve been informed by the Governor’s Department of Finance that it won’t agree before our legislative session ends (on Friday) to finalize a $750M bridge loan to Bay Area transit.

This loan was agreed to in our June budget. Without it, BART, Muni, et al will cut service.🧵

This article gets some very basic facts wrong about high-speed rail. $110 B is the cost for the entire 494 mile SF-LA project, which includes over 20 miles of tunnels - not just the Central Valley Section, which is estimated to cost around $30 B. Vox overstates the cost by more than 3x.

We WON! Huge collective victory thanks to the tens of thousands of people & 120+ coalition partners who spoke out, rallied, dropped banners, and everything else to make this happen. Big ups to Sen. Wiener & Arreguin & Asm. Gonzalez for leading the charge in Sacramento.
Our budget agreement with the Governor is now public.

We fully protected public transportation funding — reversing all proposed cuts — & fully protected the $750M loan to Bay Area transit systems we previously agreed to with the Assembly. 🧵

Our legislation to cap insulin co-pays at $35/month (SB 40) just passed the Senate Health Committee. People should never have to ration insulin. We need to make sure people can afford it.

Thank you to our American Diabetes Association team for your advocacy to help us advance this critical bill!

We’re announcing new legislation (SB 63) to provide long-term stable funding to Bay Area transit systems, authorizing a multi-county revenue measure for 2026.

If we do nothing, major systems (BART, Muni, AC Transit, Caltrain) will be forced into massive service cuts.

We must not let that happen.🧵
