Hi, this is a time sensitive query: tomorrow was made a Federal holiday by executive order. I'm trying to figure out if immigration court hearings are in session at 26 Federal Plaza and can't get clear information. Please help.

In case you have been looking for a way to support the OU grad instruction, please beware of scams! She is not running any gofundme
@lollardfish.bsky.social could you share this? You have a much bigger reach than I do and I'm sure a lot of people want to help Mel Curth.
Please be aware of possible scams! My client, Mel Curth, is not seeking any donations at this time.

She is grateful for your support, and asks folks that want to help to give back to the community by donating to a local organization of your choice.

If you're driving in Virginia and suddenly see a large building and a sign that says "Stuart Hall School", it is a hall named after a Stuart, not a [Stuart Hall] school!

Why am I betting you money I could just give you for being right?
Betcha a shiny nickel this is because they told their LLM to redact all the initials used to identify minor victims and so it also redacted S.D.N.Y.
I have seen DOJ do some strange redactions before, but this is up there:

I’d rather compete in a staring contest against Erika Kirk than watch Chappelle’s new special.
Y’all are actually watching Dave Chappelle stand up? New material? For real?

On purpose?

A friend was processing the George Wallace collection at the Alabama state archives. She sent me a copy of a letter to Wallace parents asking him to not “stand in the schoolhouse door” in June 1963. It was from my parents.
I think we need a mega thread of everyone's craziest archive stories.

I had a job doing this.

And even though the research wasn't my area, it impacted me in a way i really appreciate. (Showed me how fucked up colonization is.)
hiring a research assistant is an appropriate and ethical way to address this issue when it comes up. an undergrad or grad student can read the book and write a summary, develop research skills, and get paid for it. scholars can trust the accuracy of the summary, then read the book themselves

If you're queer and/or a racialized person in Chicago, "Straight Pride" dude is at Checkpoint 9 in Terminal 3.
I personally don't think that a person should be a TSA agent at O'Hare if they have "straight pride," "ALL lives matter," and "white power" tattoos, but hey, I'm not in charge of DHS these days.
