He’s on a mission from God.
What's from Chicago, hates Illinois Nazis, and is holy as fuck?

It's the Pope in 1982.

I’ve been spending this weekend in a group setting in the remote Dutch countryside, playing collaborative and murderous games. Woke up this morning, walked into the kitchen and said “so, was anyone murdered last night?” Fortunately, there was no sign of Claudia Winkleman.

So the fabulous @anniewestdotcom.bsky.social did a retirement portrait for the man who once (allegedly) suggested that Seamus Heaney might be a good topic after she felt she’d flogged Yeats to death…
Hats off to President Michael D and Sabina Higgins , staff and of course *all* their Dogs for 14 years and more for being absolute sounders @president.ie #Aras25

So. The weird thing about the trial of Soldier F is not that he was acquitted. It is that he was not charged for the correct crimes.

The Saville Inquiry found that he definitely killed Michael Kelly, Bernard McGuigan and Patrick Doherty, and possibly also William McKinney...

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

It's harrowing seeing some clueless North Americans accidentally stumble into Irish Bsky.

It's like one of those nature documentaries where an ant colony strips an antelope to the bone.

In 2001 I married my wife, Sylvia.
In 2005 I started medical transition. (1/13)

Sometimes, when walking home, it is prudent to stop, bow, and utter the immortal phrase “gronda, gronda”. Just in case.

Also going to boost this - Dorothy House is always worth supporting.
If you are able to, please can you support Simon's fundraiser? Dorothy House is an amazing place, and Simon does great work on YouTube.
Two years ago I lost my dad to cancer.

He used to run marathons for our local cancer hospice and taught me to love the water by taking me swimming every week.

So in his memory I'm raising money for the hospice not by running a half marathon... but by swimming one

I am in a bar in Turin called Charlie Bird. Am mildly disappointed that it is named for the jazz legend and not the legendary RTE correspondent.

I also suspect I cracked this joke last time I was overnight in Torino.
