Finally watching "Task" and I have thoughts. The accents are okay-ish -- Mark Ruffalo doesn't bother trying, but I forgive him because Mark Ruffalo. (Also, his character is from Newtown Square, my hometown.) But what the hell is going on with characters from PA pronouncing it "LAN-CAH-ster" FFS?

I will add: People who expected this teacher to be bummed do not know (good) teachers very well. A civics teacher? With a student who wants to run for office? That’s probably bliss.

Defense says that the officer's testimony was "very questionable" because he said the sandwich both exploded in spray of mustard and onions and also landed in its wrapper on the ground.

I have two, and they definitely date me: 1. Texting to say you're running late is still being late; 2. Cancelling at the last minute cause you need "me time" is still being rude.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Nothing I have ever read in my entire life, ever, has made me feel this old.

the funniest thing about this is that those of us who grew up in the divide all have a bunch of pre-cell phone numbers memorized and almost none afterwards

I know the home phone numbers of two of my childhood best friends from thirty years ago and none of the cell numbers of my college friends
If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.

Remember when folks predicted that if the Epstein files revealed that members of the administration had engaged in sex trafficking, it would suddenly be "okay" according to MAGA to sexually abuse children? Here we go:
“I still will listen to him! He’s still a man of God.”

“We all have our sinful past. Obviously he repented and changed his life.”

“He was also young himself.”

“Why would anyone wait so long before coming forth with this? Smells like Money, money, money.”

I collect pictures of gate latches. The endless minute variations and human ingenuity appeal to me greatly, and the countless hands that have moved them. This one is between Near and Far Sawrey, Lake District and has a lovely combination of textures between the iron, wooden gate, and stone gatepost.
