looking forward to either a 6-3 decision that trump as God Emperor of the United States can change the constitution by fiat or a 5-4 decision that 14th amendment means what it says with a dissent from thomas that actually the constitution recognizes donald j. trump as sovereign

2025 has been pretty heinous for losing people, but this one really hit me.

I QAed my first LLM a few days ago and wanted to stab myself in the face with an ice pick. The exact same prompt resulted in three wildly different answers, two of which showed a regression in functionality and a final one that didn't! What if I'd gotten that one first?! Complete insanity!
“we estimate employment-weighted share of Americans using AI at work has fallen by a percentage point & now sits at 11%. Adoption has fallen sharply at the largest businesses, those employing +250 people. 3 yrs into the genAI wave, demand looks surprisingly flimsy” www.economist.com/finance-and-...
Investors expect AI use to soar. That’s not happening
Recent surveys point to flatlining business adoption

Always good to be reminded that one doesn't have to be in thrall to the streamers for one's entertainment. As someone who's recently been dismayed at how many DVD's are out of print because their manufacturer has gone out of business, I found this passage especially telling:

More anec-data for my "executives know and are terrified by how little they contribute to a company and will grasp at any illusion of productivity to justify themselves" theory.
The numbers in here are hilarious.

Do you use AI on the job?
Execs: 87%
Managers: 57%
Workers: 27%

Planned investment by 2030: $5T
"Necessary" annual revenue to justify that spend: $650B
Current annual revenue: $50B
Three years into the generative-AI wave, demand for the technology seems surprisingly flimsy

remember when they called John Wick "Baba Yaga" because they thought it meant "real cool killer who's maybe a ghost" and then they found out it was a witch who lives in a hut that's held up by chicken legs and then they didn't call him that anymore

Rogue One’s growing reputation is just misplaced Andor affection change my mind.

Gilroy did absolutely heroic work salvaging that movie, but Andor really puts into perspective just how dysfunctional Rogue One is.

I wish Tony had done a *worse* job putting it back together, because it pretends to be coherent enough to let fans deflect criticism, which I find frustrating!
my expectation of any star wars movie is "are there characters who experience any measure of growth over a two hour runtime?" if yes, then i can vibe with it. if no, then i can't. guess where rogue one fits.
