I have got to get off Bluesky. Surprisingly it turns out that non stop commentary on the murder of a woman I have a fair amount on common with does not make me feel very good.

I’m a re-reader. Some books are like favorite sweaters or the perfect cup of coffee, and I want to experience them over and over. Knowing what’s coming isn’t a deterrent - in fact, that allows me to really sink into the story.

Wondering who else does this and what your favorite re-reads are?

I’ve been reading @mmschreier.bsky.social’s work for years, and this is the gut-punchiest story I’ve read in a long time. Lovely, sweet, and terribly sad all at once.

What the OP said.
Hey, I know a lot of you use Discord.

You need to get on this survey and make it damn clear to them that this would be the absolute wrong direction. The last thing we need is the slop-spewing environment-chewing plagiarism bots invading there, too.

Teenager: Hi Mom, how are you feeling today?

Me: Tired, mostly.

Teen: Ohhh, I’m sorry. Can I help?

Me: Well, you could unload the dishwasher for me.

Teen: … oh.

Be safe, neighbors…
Multnomah Country, Oregon, has posted warnings to residents that ICE agents are impersonating utility workers.

You read that right. ICE is now impersonating utility workers in order to gain access to people's homes and businesses without a warrant.

In Oregon and want to meet people with cool opinions who will send you home with more books than you could possibly read for only $0 more than free?

You may doubt such a place exists, but the Multnomah County Library checks out.

New novelette from one of the best short fic writers out there. Go read!
I have a new novelette here! You can read it now if you buy/subscribe, but it’ll be on the website too next month.

It’s a secondary world dark fantasy w/ body horror elements, set in a wartime factory where the workers’ memories get wiped out every night via giant hounds licking their bodies. 🩸🐕‍🦺

Starting tomorrow, the Trump administration is set to send notices to 1,000 student loan borrowers (first round) noticing them of an intent to garnish their wages for student loan debt.

This is cruel and unnecessary.

If you receive a notice, send it to us and we'll try to help.
