this morning, ICE went into a Spanish language immersion daycare and took a teacher from the building in front of screaming and crying kids and parents at dropoff and the daycare had to shut down for the day (near Lane Tech, where they were yesterday). Really hoping today's "theme" is not "daycare."

Recently when telling my boss something isn't technologically feasible, they tell me they asked an improv comedy group who told them it actually was and they'll have someone else look into it.
I don't see any systemic reason for republicans to stop their shutdown. This is what they want. This feels like the weeks leading up to Covid when experts warned about what was coming but normal people were just going about their lives.
It is not widely reported, but Medi-Cal (Cali’s Medicaid) is set to end at the end of December because of the Government shutdown
And CalFresh (Cali’s food stamps) is set to end at the end of October
So millions of people will lose their food assistance & healthcare in a matter of weeks or months

My significant other's employer just let them know they are switching all their health plans to high deductible ones and they will pay them $150 per month to opt out of those altogether. Have never heard of that before.
