This was just me making this comparison yesterday, but today the Korean news is calling Minnesota "America's Gwangju" and have human rights lawyers explaining how America is now living through the dictatorship Korea once had.
The Chun regime that my wife fought against in the 80s did the exact same thing. They needed a "crisis" that "only they could solve" to hoard more ill-gotten power, so they chose one city (Gwangju), declared its inhabitants enemies, sent trucks full of soldiers to violently attack and kill them.

ICE abducted a 5 year old boy and put him in a Texas detention center. A 5 year old. Liam Ramos. His family was following all legal asylum parameters and were not under deportation orders.

a major issue with video games is that they produce a bunch of people who consider themselves brain geniuses for solving problems that were designed to be solvable. as a remedy, we should be making more games that are actively and irreconcilably hostile to the player. thank you

in Korean “mong” is the term for a temporary moment of vacant empty-headedness. It can be used as an adjective “I feel mong” or as an exclamation like when someone asks you a question and you’re unable to produce a response so you just say “mong”

I don't know what to tell you if you don't think your relatives' badly prepared Thanksgiving feast is not one of the best meals of the year.
I genuinely, unironically LOVE dry-ass turkey, it's a great texture. As soon as they start complaining about how it turned out I know I'm in for a treat

Lot of talk about if thanksgiving food is good. This is nonsense. Just as cigarettes are nicotine delivery devices, thanksgiving food is a gravy delivery device. Get the gravy right and nothing else matters.
