If you don’t like that I added you to a list, just let me know and I’ll give it a second look. They’re just for me, no one is subscribing to them.
imagine if this was his final public appearance, that would be so cool

I'm not trying to "to be fair" Trump but that isn't quite the literal read of what he said. He confirmed that -Mamdani- thinks that Trump is a fascist, not that he thinks that about himself.

Not sure why everyone is so mind-blown about this.

He's just defusing the implication of the statement by implying it's all kayfabe.

I think what they mean by 'moving' is transitioning as much governmental and industrial infrastructure as possible to other areas so that the population will follow those jobs and leave behind a smaller, more sustainable city. It's not vacating the place entirely

Like me and most of the people I follow think it's well within the bounds of reason for someone tangibly harmed by a public policy to tell its proponents to fuck off and go to hell. A lot of older liberals disagree.

I agree about all this but I think a lot of what is called harassment from the left is actually just generational and class divides in acceptable tone.

false alarm its already been longer than less than an hour

Maybe single-handedly responsible for solidifying Steam's monopoly on digital sales for PC games. Absolutely brilliant example of winning the long game by investing in a short-term loss leader at the exact right moment

So there's no law prohibiting me rolling a car down a hill without a driver? Because without any regulation about computer-guided systems specifically, that is the existing equivalent.

Every car being tested should be immediately impounded the second they move on a public street.

I'm mostly goofing in this thread, but to be serious: that's a big part of why me and a lot of people are ready to bail, because Windows isn't even Windows any more. They keeping mac-ifying it and making it harder and harder for advanced users to do the things they used to know how to do!

once you see Luke you start seeing the Lukes all around us

ah, here's the thing, and yes I am doing Bane voice: I did not 'learn' Windows. I was raised on every iteration of it from childhood. The file structures are like an appendage to me, I move through them without thought.

I'm really loving the replies I'm getting to this. You are all being very helpful and I appreciate it but I'm gonna be honest I'm mostly just enjoying them because I feel vindicated
November 19, 2025 at 10:32 PM
lol I believe you but on the other hand this is kind of exactly what I'm talking about, "rapidly expanding" is not the level of certainty I want to hear before I commit to the computer version of a full-demo structural renovation

I'm so fucking ready to make the switch but I need to know with 100% confidence that I won't be struggling with a learning curve and that all of my programs will work.

Linux ppl always assure me those things are true then add a lot of follow-up corollaries that clearly indicate that they're not

what's funniest is that the legal issue he's asking about (whether public figures or their estate have any rights to control how they are depicted) is as old as time. The AI element doesn't add any additional wrinkle to it!
November 19, 2025 at 8:32 PM
can you not? I'm at work right now
November 19, 2025 at 7:17 PM
That would make sense if you were staffing an organization with a tangible purpose and mission statement, but 'loyalty above else' makes sense if you're just trying to act as a bulwark for a personality cult so this all tracks

doesnt sound as bad if you reframe it as “vanilla sangria”

that has been a very powerful tool in my arsenal for a long time although it should come with a disclaimer that it should be used with EXTREME caution in relationship contexts. I will not be held liable.

My experience has been that the worst trends of boomers and GenX led to near identical toxic political conclusions (not from all of them obviously, but the statistics are telling us something and the stats don't lie) except it comes from a place of naivety with boomers and cynicism with GenX
