If the figures we're getting out of Iran are in the right league, this weekend was, I think, one of the bloodiest state crackdowns of all time. People are talking 12,000-20,000 dead; for comparison Hungary in 1956 was about 2,500, Tiananmen - across country, in multiple cities - probably 1000+

There are several characters that made me ffwd, and it’s none of these four. Reallyyyy pissed in particular about Raven. I hope she (and the other three) go off and be a star where she is appreciated.

Jesus Christ was also a Jew
Stephen Pittman, a 19-year-old man accused of setting fire to Jackson’s only synagogue, Beth Israel, declared that “Jesus Christ is lord” after the judge asked him if he understood his rights in federal court today.

Jackson Synagogue Burning Suspect Tells Judge, 'Jesus Christ Is Lord'
A suspect in the arson fire at the Beth Israel Congregation in Jackson, Mississippi, allegedly admitted to targeting it because of its “Jewish ties.”

Best TikTok thing going is the two dudes trying food from every country without leaving NYC. If you haven’t seen them yet, it’s incredible. My favorite so far is last week’s. Legit got me emotional.

So glad Bowen got a proper sendoff. He deserves everything good in this world, including singing with CHER. On a personal note, I’m grateful we got an Asian on #SNL who wasn’t a caricature of our community & was fucking funny. Thanks for EVERYTHING, Bowen. Can’t believe we got you as long as we did

This is why science matters.
"A new study has found that eating 50g or more of high-fat cheese a day correlates with a lower risk of developing dementia. That means all cheeses with more than 20 percent fat content, including brie, gouda, cheddar, parmesan, gruyere, and mozzarella." www.sciencealert.com/cheese-linke...

At SNL I worked with artists who made the funniest, stupidest graphics in no time flat. Some of my biggest jokes would have been impossible without these geniuses building an insane image or finding the perfect real-life photo of a politician. Sucks that their work is being pushed aside for slop.
SNL used AI art tonight, multiple times.

Booooooo.

I think it's kind of beautiful that this was Rob Reiner's final line on television

This is what I was talking about. The demand to have a statement from those who loved them for a headline is awful. A statement now won’t affect us but the inhumane demand changes the way people like Wil are able to process their grief

Leave them all alone. I’m sorry he had to say anything at all

No, we do not need to see pictures or video of Billy Crystal or anyone else outside of the Reiners’ home or frankly ANYWHERE to understand that they’re grieving someone they love.

Fucking vultures

While Amazon is investing billions of dollars to expand AI, independent bookstores are hosting community events, personally recommending books to readers, and providing a space that is safe and welcoming during a time when we need them most.

Never underestimate the power of a local bookstore.

This year has been awful for so many reasons. The past few years have been terrible to the GH cast, crew, and fans.

Can’t believe we lost Robert Scorpio and Luke Spencer in the matter of months. What a pair. RIP Tony Geary
Our hearts go out to the friends and family of Tony Geary, better known as Luke Spencer of #GH. The actor passed away at the age of 78. RIP, Tony.

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

I don’t know how many times my dad & I have quoted a Rob Reiner movie to each other. Just this weekend, my dad threw a pecan pie in the cart & went “Would you like some pecan pie?!?” with the biggest grin

I’m just so damn sad for all of us but esp the ones who loved Rob Reiner & Michele Singer most

Originally Harry and Sally weren't going to end up together at the end of the film. But then Rob Reiner, who had been divorced for ten years, met Michele Singer and started believing in happy endings again.

And I'm just so sad they're not here anymore and that this is how their story ends.

Rob Reiner was a good guy. He made a lot of movies about good guys, in worlds where not everyone was good and you didn’t have to be good. He made movies about people trying. He was angry, as many hopeful people are. He knew the world could be better and he wanted it to be. His death is devastating.

When I lived in LA 97-99 (and you may recall this @davidjroth.bsky.social), Rob Reiner led the smoking ban in bars. I couldn’t believe bars could exist without cigs. And I don’t even smoke.

He kickstarted all of it. I still go to bars. I never have to Febreez my clothes.

So, also that.
