Wouldn't it be amazing if you never had to fail students? What if instead you kept working with a student until they demonstrate mastery or decide the content/course wasn't for them?

Please share this widely. There have been 13 peer-reviewed critiques of the Cass Review, to the extent that academia regards it as pseudoscience, but so far all have been subject to organised censorship by mainstream media. This is the first time one has broken through. Oz Guardian only still.
Worked hard to get this into Guardian Oz & big props to @fiercemum.bsky.social for setting it up & Melissa Davey for publishing it. She will doubtless get loads of hassle from transphobes for it, but it needs to be out there.

Doesn’t feel good that the head of BBC News Content is instructing reporters to refer to trans people with slurs. If this leak is real it raises questions about who made this decision, who was consulted, and why the BBC chose to ignore its own editorial guidelines on slurs and offensive language
EXCLUSIVE
The BBC has circulated leaked guidance telling journalists to describe trans women as “biological males”.

At the HHS announcement yesterday announcing proposed rules to ban GAC, they said trans people are "at the root of the evils we face" and are "a hatred for nature as God designed it and for life as it was meant to be lived.”

Just in case you thought it was about concerns for proper healthcare.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

The original text simply noted that persons with disabilities experience amplified barriers when their disability interacts with diverse contexts, such as sexual orientation and gender identity.

The whitest person you've ever seen: "OH YEAH, WHAT ABOUT IRAN?"
I am so tired of seeing this ridiculous transphobe story about "transing gay kids."

It's offensive on multiple levels. It erases a lot of trans people, yes, but also acts like the big threat to GNC gay people is pressure to change genders, when it's punishment and VIOLENCE for our differences.

Yesterday, RFK Jr. and the Dept. of Health and Human Services proposed two anti-trans rules. The rules would:
1️⃣ Prohibit federal Medicaid coverage of gender-affirming care for youth
2️⃣ End Medicaid/Medicare funding for hospitals providing gender-affirming care to minor patients. (1/3)

It’s notable that Queensland today has basically done the exact same thing Aotearoa has: ignore their own commissioned report to instead align their practice with the UK, extending their ban until 2031 at the earliest. This from the Vine review’s executive summary is telling:

Congratulations, those of you who decided to platform fringe voices and create a climate of fear and hate out of ignorance because those voices insisted a non-problem was a problem. They're now on an HHS stage trying to ruin children's lives. You will live with the harm you have done forever.

What bothers me more than anything about this is that many of the same people who correctly go, "This guy's a crank!" when he's talking about Tylenol causing autism or anti-vax stuff will sit there nodding along like, "Hey, if HHS said this, it must be legit!" when it involves trans care.

In the last 24 hours the New York Times has run two stories on anti-trans actions by the federal government which appear to *intentionally* not mention that you can change your sex, which is a scientific fact

Instead “everyone transitions gender but can’t change sex” is now embedded in the coverage

Cuellar, Gonzalez, and Davis voted to make it a felony for a doctor to provide a child with the only evidence-based treatment for gender dysphoria.
Republicans voting against the felony national trans youth healthcare ban were Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), Gabe Evans (CO), Michael Lawler (NY), Mike Kennedy (UT).

Dems voting FOR the felony ban were Henry Cueller (TX), Vincente Gonzalez (TX), Don Davis (NC).

3 NVs on both sides.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.
