I love that this is a news story. And that it's a thing that's happened. 😄

Can people please stop bringing Black Mirror episodes to life? Unless it's Cameron and the pig again, obviously.
Nightmarish idea for a startup tbh

Yesterday a man was spelling something using phonetic alphabet over the phone to me. He started to struggle at D:
”eh…Dick”
and when he came to a B
“[long silence]…I can only think of Balls because I said Dick”

Pretty sure it was this, on cassette, from Woolworths in Dereham. And I still own it.

I'm sorry, what? I've only ever known them as woodlice and was unaware that anyone called them anything else, despite having lived in various parts of the UK. I don't know what to do with this new information.
I like to think that this map of all the regional names for woodlice in the UK could also be a map illustrating the new tribes of humans to be found on the same landmass after The Great Digital Crash and ensuing breakdown of society.

Making the actual super simple game took about 40 minutes, including drawing the sprites. The infrastructure around it (title screen, character selection, unnecessary end screen animation) took nearly 2 hours. Priorities!

Gonna just say, if it's this easy to protest against the monolith that is Disney. Then there is no excuse for people to be clinging to Harry Potter. Like, if the needle can be moved against Disney, people can make it move against JK Rowling. Stop the flow of money into her accounts,
If you protested Jimmy Kimmel being pulled off the air by canceling Disney+ or some similarly simple action that had clear, direct, effective results, it feels good that you helped get him back, right? The neat part of you can choose another simple action, and keep that awesome feeling going.

An actual quote from the Secretary of State for Business and Trade

Too often people go to university to ‘explore research and knowledge’

Look forward to Wes S saying 'too often people go to hospital to have operations' or Heidi Alexander saying 'too often people go to the station to catch a train'

Question to Zach Polanski at the leadership announcement:

"Q: How can you take on Nigel Farage when your policy on immigration is so different?"

Everything wrong with British politics and media summed up so succinctly in a single absolutely unhinged question.

Post a screenshot of your first 5 Steam purchases and let Bluesky judge you (go to account details and purchase history).

Technically my first 6, but I'm counting all LiS eps as 1. I forgot I bought the Secret Files game that day - I don't think I finished it as didn't like it as much as Tunguska.

This week I wrote about how millions of vulnerable and disabled people are no longer eligible for a covid booster.

Here's a petition you can sign to stop that happening petition.parliament.uk/petitions/73...

(and the article www.thecanary.co/uk/analysis/...)
Petition: Fund NHS COVID boosters for Clinically Vulnerable people – keep covid boosters
'Protect the NHS' and 'Save Lives' by continuing to fund NHS COVID boosters for Clinically Vulnerable people, including most previously shielded as CEV, rather than limiting them to over-75s, care home residents and those with severely weakened immune systems.

My brain at midnight on a Thursday: What was that film I once saw where a weird dude had some kind of sexy time with a pig on a farm?

Turns out I was thinking of Taxidermia (at least I think so), but RIP my search history.
