Worth noting that the U.S. has a specific law (the SPEECH Act) that means foreign libel judgments are unenforceable in U.S. courts.

They do like a bit of hypocrisy.

People who object to terms like "birthing person" think they're being used as synonyms for woman, but they're not - that's the whole point. A childfree woman like me would never be called a birthing person. A 12-year-old giving birth wouldn't be called a woman.

Michael Prescott and Sir Robbie Gibb both bailed out of journalism years ago, and enjoy lucrative careers in corporate PR. And now they are the arbiters of BBC editorial standards. Go figure www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/media/...
The BBC has bigger impartiality problems than its coverage of Trump
It is the BBC’s entire governance structure–rather than individual stories–that should cause most concern

I am regularly targeted on Instagram by single men. Often Christian, American and always with a child or two. They are scammers and they wouldn't get ££ out of me because 8m POOR.
But women are indoctrinated into "being nice to men" even when they KNOW it's a scam

Anybody who had a vision to bring American levels of political, cultural and social polarisation to Britain - whether their motive was clicks or cash, ideology, boredom or anything else - would make it their top strategic priority to abolish the BBC, or to damage and diminish it at the very least
Quick thread on the BBC and the political and societal significance of recent developments:

One of the main reasons the UK has historically been so much less polarised than the US, is that Britain has a shared source of information, consumed and trusted by most people regardless of their politics.

It's all too easy to think we wouldn't fall for a romance scam, but the grooming techniques are frighteningly difficult to resist.

‘I opened up like a giant elevator’: the seven sly, savage stages of a £100,000 romance scam
Last year, romance fraud rose 52% for over-55s in the UK. Victims often feel they’ve made a terrible mistake and are at fault – but really, they’ve been expertly groomed by criminals

In which Trump says "The Great Big Beautiful Bill" is "the greatest piece of legislation ever passed in the history of our country," a deranged statement that no one will even mull over for a single moment, because deep down 100% of Americans know he's a narcissist who thinks he's a demigod

I know this is an obvious and old point, but it still shocks me how quickly the culture of the GOP has come to defined by the absurd personality type of the "toad-licking, ass kissing alpha." Amazing that they've built an audience that finds such deportment appealing, rather than disqualifying.
