Let’s share our work! Here’s my #PerfectProphet trilogy. A death metal atheist with a surprising gift becomes a Satanist’s target.

In the 2nd book, the MC becomes the target of a #Christian #cult.

Book 3’s theme? Redemption for the antagonist.

Substack. Platforms. Nazis!!!
“The global publishing platform Substack is generating revenue from newsletters that promote virulent Nazi ideology, white supremacy and antisemitism, a Guardian investigation has found…” www.theguardian.com/media/2026/f...
Revealed: How Substack makes money from hosting Nazi newsletters

It may be a bit of a spoiler, but Mateo eventually suffers from a constant fight to take in air after a stabbing injury in my series WIP. I won’t go into how or when that injury takes place, so maybe that makes it less of a spoiler.
Do any of your characters suffer from chronic pain? What kind? How do they deal with it?

This is true. Two new chunks are being added, one previously published with limited distribution and another I'm writing now.

In the end, this Final Edition of The Fearing will be about half again the size of the original edition.

Order it today!

I knew I would find some form of redeem in the series WIP. I picked Pedro’s entry into the series and found redemption. #WIPSnips

I’m embarrassed to admit that I haven’t read this yet, but it’s been on my list for a long time. Owen is 11 when the inciting incident happens, so I can only guess that it counts? #TBRuary

Scanlon is in his 80s, so that def counts. And why do I want to read it? Because of The Good Place. #TBRuary

#PretendPanel, my current WIP centers around a small town mayoral election, so there’s no avoiding it there. What’s weird is that my mom wrote the thing some 30+ years ago, and while I’m giving it more substance, I feel like the political element hasn’t really changed. 1/2
I'm breaking the rule of not bringing up politics, #pretendpanel! Still, I think it's important to think about it in our writing.

February 7th: How much has real world politics had an impact on your writing, or do you avoid that like the plague?

#3 — "The Build-A-Monster Workshop" is a brilliant poetry collection that I got an early copy of. It explores monsters and monstrosity, ghouls, cryptids, hauntings, and how monsters (especially those out of folklore/myth) struggle to survive the modern world. 5 stars!

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

No "sixth" so instead, here's something about the six bombs.

This comes from the diary of one of the previous innkeepers, Yam/Yamma/Gramma Yamma. This foul-mouthed woman was Shallot's great-grandmother and this entry is from 50 years ago when Grilled is reading it.

I have Chuck Tingle’s Camp Damascus on my TBR list, about a Christian conversion therapy camp, which honestly sounds like the perfect venue for something horror related. #TBRuary

The basket ride down to hell is probably more comfortable than the drive down the mountains in that tiny backseat. The shifting of the car on the curves and descents moved me constantly, putting me into new & interesting stress #positions the Israelis would be proud to invent. #WIPSnips #amquerying

#TBRuary 4:

I decided to limit my picks this month to the print books I own that are easily accessible in my currently downsized living space. What staring at a heap of books DOESN'T immediately tell you is which ones are translations.

So PLEASE, give me your queer SFFH translation recs! 💜
#TBRuary Day 4: Speaking Your Language

For today's pick, choose a book from your TBR that's a translation of something originally written in a language you don't speak. Don't be shy about asking for recommendations if you need them!

#TBRuary Day 3: Around the World

I'm halfway thru 'It's Not A Cult' by Joey Batey, which oozes the culture and language of Northern England. It's a brilliantly written and eerie read. I've been a fan of Batey and his music for years. This book hasn't disappointed. Steeped in folk horror! #booksky

Tender is the Flesh by Augustina Bazterrica is a horror novel that I have heard so much about. I ended up giving it as a Christmas gift to a coworker who is, in fact, from Argentina. But I do want to read it too. #TBRuary
