Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

I don’t care if Schumer voted no. If he’s unable to wrangle the caucus, he’s not an effective leader. I’ll continue to push for the caucus to elect a new one.

Tonight, Senate Republicans — aided by eight Democrats — passed a funding bill that will raise healthcare premiums for millions of Americans and leave some families without health care at all.

Let's discuss.

How long till we learn American, United & Delta worked the phones on Senate Dems?

Democrats only saved them from shooting themselves in the foot. Messing with air travel over Thanksgiving would have destroyed Trump.
Credit where due, fucking with air travel was genius MAGA move. It impacts upper & middle class and, more importantly, a powerful business interest. Starving millions of poor people doesn't piss off Wall St.

Healthcare is a human right.

Democratic Senators should fight for it like lives depend on it because they do.

"millions of people counting on us"
The health insurance Marketplace is open. Americans, who are already facing a cost of living crisis, are seeing drastically higher, unaffordable premiums. With millions of people counting on us, it’s time to extend these tax credits.

Schumer can be removed from his Dem leadership role this week - 23 Dems (and/or independents) just have to vote to depose him

And they should, given this is his fault.
This is a lovely sentiment but Schumer isn't up for re-election until 2028 and he knows this. At which point he will be 77/78. There's no mechanism to recall a sitting senator AFAIK.
Let’s be clear: Chuck Schumer is the one ending this shutdown, no matter how the votes read.

Chuck Schumer is claiming that he’s voting no, while letting other Senators (Fetterman, Kaine, King, etc) do HIS dirty work.

He must be removed from his leadership & primaried for the sake of this country

Yes. Yes they fucking will.

They forgot January 6. They forgot "Covid will disappear" and "if there wasn't any testing there would be no cases." The "American people" have the memory of a goldfish.
From his gilded golf club, President Trump kept food off the tables of millions of children and families. The American people will not forget.

💯 this
Carefully choreographed votes and angry press releases are all cute, but the indication of whether anyone in the caucus really cares is whether there’s any push for leadership changes or punitive action against the cavers.

There won’t be, but that would be the theoretical sign this is different
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.

Indeed. Until progressives in the Senate Democratic caucus directly challenge Schumer’s leadership it’s kind of hard to take their grousing seriously at this point. They are all in on this #SchumerSurrender politics.
Hey just a reminder that it only takes 23 Senate Democrats to remove and replace Chuck Schumer as minority leader. They don't do it because the majority of Senate Democrats approve of the way he does politics.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

I guess the airlines lobbying worked, too.
SHUTDOWN TAKEAWAY: send home as many federal employees as you want, cut off people's food stamps, let health care system career towards a cliff, but don't mess with air travel, especially with holidays looming.

Everyone compares Fetterman to Manchin. The better comparison is Sinema. Manchin, as much as he annoyed Democrats, focused entirely on West Virginia-related issues.
john fetterman campaigned on not being the next joe manchin, duping a lot of people in the process, when the reality is and always has been that joe manchin was always a reliable healthcare vote in the senate

If Schumer can't whip enough votes to prevent a deal that will price millions of Americans out of healthcare, he needs to resign.
Schumer is voting No.

He can’t stop Fetterman from voting Yes.
