That CEO is never winning back that newsroom.

Whether the CEO cares about that, I do not know.
NEWS: More than 400 WashPost journalists - including some of its most distinguished reporters & editors - have sent plea to owner Jeff Bezos to intervene. This petition was sent last night and disclosed by NPR.

While not citing CEO Will Lewis by name, it casts a harsh light on his leadership/more

I cannot tell you how tired I am of this bullshit.

Republicans nominated and voted for Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Republican politicians endorsed him and refused to impeach him twice.

Nearly every Democrat fought him every step of the way to protect democracy.

Stop gaslighting us!

This explains why I'm feeling despair. Democrats aren't learning--or refuse to learn--a freakin' thing from this election! Democrats chose a center-right, corporate path, and Democrats keep losing voters and elections. When will Democrats realize they must recapture their populist past?
Notice in almost all of the post-election articles and op-eds and discussions that Democratic strategists and politicians and personalities just keep focusing on messaging and cobbling together electoral maps, but what’s missing almost to a piece is an agenda that winning would enable.

Used to play multiplayer games.

Got sick of 'em when I realized that, for most people, it wasn't about the play, it was about finding the exploits in the system to get an advantage over everybody else.

And then I realized how much that same sort of thinking governs EVERYTHING.

"Disrupt" is code for "Destroy reliable established services so that money previously widely distributed now funnels into a single source." Just like "AI" is code for "Mine the work humans did in the past so we don't have to pay them for their work in the future." That's why VCs like both words.
“Disrupt” is a very Silicon Valley word. Every time I see it crop up in a business-case, my bullshit-detection hackles go up.

Cool man. Real glad we elected the "hold Trump accountable" party only to get "look forward, not back" and then return him to power with zero consequences for anything he did *and* the power of a king. Might as well have just let him win in 2020. At least it would be over now instead of ahead of us.

Everyone in the media needs to read this comment below. While the legacy media is telling itself the problem is disappointed voters who need a break, the truth is customers disappointed in the content they are being offered and the patronizing responses.
I unsubscribed from the Washington Post and have not been watching MSNBC. But I still subscribe to 4 or 5 newspapers and many more Substacks and magazines. I’m not tuning out. I’m just tuning into different things.

This is a wild story. I don't pretend to understand the book, but I do understand that the Washington Post is a total mess and suffering from a crisis of confidence from its readers and others.
Holy crap WaPo assigned me a review of Gore’s book, which I wrote in good faith and with an open mind, and was edited in good faith with minimal interference by the assigning editor…and then an executive editor at WaPo turned around and trashed it on another site??
I’m sorry, but this is just WEIRD….

The Washington Post’s executive editor takes time out of his busy schedule to basically say that my book doesn’t include enough positive stuff about Opus Dei

What the actual f**k?

We don’t need billionaires deciding what we should read in the paper
Since the election, some disappointed in the results are tuning out the news media as a way to take care of themselves.
The latest news? Not right now, thanks.
Some people disappointed in Donald Trump’s win are quitting the news entirely.

Hope Steven Miller's deportation mob doesn't need their produce picked on new roofs on their houses, to choose two handy examples. I hope they encourage their high-school aged children to work those jobs in the summer; you know, to build character.
Beats grifting hate, anyway.

You know how people hate when employers give pizza parties instead of raises?

The dems are basically following this game plan. And just can’t figure out why people hate them.

PBS Kids animation writers are fighting for the same union protections as their live-action colleagues. There should be no disparity between workers doing in essence the same work.

We hope @PBS management rights this wrong when we return to the bargaining table next week. #1U

AMEN.
The worst thing about NBA Twitter is the aggregator accounts. They not only repurpose other people's work, they force the discourse to be about gossipy drivel like "Chandler Parsons says ____ about ____, do you agree?!?" I'm begging y'all, starve those accounts out. Do not support them.

Miami without Butler
Portland without Simons and Ayton
Portland without Simons, Ayton and Williams
They're a bad team right now. Nothing else to be said.
