Even Dread felt like it had its story pretty much front & center WITH the exploration/gameplay, pretty overtly so.
also sorry but people expecting metroid to just be "samus lands on an alien planet and starts blasting, there's no story" is like honestly delusional

Idk man, Prime 3 already blew the gates open with talkative characters, I kinda saw them leaning in more coming. I just hope they aren't as overtly obtrusive as the game goes on. 🤷

I felt the urge to replay Wolfenstein The New Order recently and it's still a really marvelous game that makes some astute observations about the fascist mindset. Particularly how what little a fascist society is able to create is only a thin veneer of grandeur over a rotting core.

Bad people can make good art.
When a game that people liked turns out to have been made by someone shitty, it doesn't instantly become bad. You don't have to go full Sour Grapes on it. Two things can be true at once.
