Me and @hereticmasked.bsky.social have been tracking an international hybrid threat network which we're calling the Soyjak Attacker Video Fandom (SAVF.) 4 people w/in it have committed attacks or attempted to. This is part 1 in our series.

Many thanks to @maargentino.com for hosting our work.
Welcome to a new series From The Depths, about the Soyjak Attacker Fandom network. This series is written by guest authors who've chosen to remain pseudonymous. The Antioch highschool shooter and Abundant Life Christian School shooting where part of this network.

so Grokipedia is really bad, in case anybody was wondering, but I'm going to just kind of quickly write a short thread about why. I'm going to focus on the article of neo-fascist William Luther Pierce, because I just published my MA thesis on him a few months ago.
Which Grokipedia cites.

An excellent piece on a recent school attack in Malaysia
What did Bangkok's Siam Paragon mall shooting and Malaysia's Bandar Utama school stabbing incidents have in common?

Both were carried out by 14(M). What linked these two is memetic violence, inspired by online communities glorifying mass attacks and nihilism.

Key Finding
The manifesto referenced Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, and Uvalde. It also cited Death Note and Zero Day film. The attacker used gaming terminology (NPCs) to other or dehumanise victims - a pattern we've seen in Western school shooters now appearing in Malaysia.

A recent school stabbing in Malaysia resulted in a girl's death. The attacker's note followed typical shooter manifesto patterns, inspired by US incidents. My analysis is controversial, but understanding these motivations is key to develop prevention measures.

New from me for @maargentino.com's blog: A fringe sect of Jewish nationalists are adopting neo-Nazism into their interpretations of Jewish & Israeli nationalism, despite incoherant & contradictictory beliefs.

One end result is a small but extremely cursed ecosystem of Jewish accelerationist memes.
Todays blog post at From The Depths is from @dancollen.bsky.social

Something interesting that I'm seeing lately is the new generation in these circles is using "The Fire Rises" as a way to talk in code about the actual real living people who were involved in AWD

Sort of like the use of "in Minecraft" but much more direct
Okay. Time for a thread about the Accelerationist propaganda mod for Hearts of Iron 4 and why it's bad that I don't see anyone in the field really talking about how video games and the networks around them are working to radicalize young men at an alarming rate. It urgently needs to be addressed /1

This person is called Pissshitter because their takes are both piss and shit. Asking the average American to engage with “revolutionary leftists lit” is like trying to draw blood from a rock, just ain’t gonna happen. You meet people where they are, not where you want them to be in your imagination.

New, vital work from @maargentino.com for those dealing w/ NVE. For ppl wanting the definition, I pulled a few quotes.

I really want to stress this part:

“Ideology is not absent w/in the nihilistic violent extremist milieu. However, it typically functions as a secondary or even tertiary factor”

I wrote for @msnbc.com about what the engravings on the shell casings of Kirk’s shooter represent and where the references originated. Given what we know so far, they suggest a young man who had his brain fried by the irony poisoned, anti-social nature of certain aspects of online culture. /1

An excellent piece by @cwarzel.bsky.social about the Minneapolis attacker & the murder fandoms & NVE networks that act as a feedback reinforcement loop developing future atackers. Really important reading for everyone trying to make sense of where we’re at today & w/ gift link.

This is an important piece about the Annunciation Church attacker’s writings. If you’re a practitioner who needs to make sense of the attack, or other NVE attacks, I strongly recommend reading this piece. I think it’s some of Marc-André’s best work.
My latest post analyzes the Annunciation Church attack and the perpetrator’s 96-day diary that documents their evolution from ideation to operational readiness, set against an eleven-year buildup of grievance, nihilism, and shooter-fandom conditioning.

The only thing that's true about this obvious hit piece is that this is an opinion; a bad one.

You're deliberately mischaracterising what happened. The exploitation here is coming from you, not Marc, trying to milk pity points.

Whoever's willing to believe the worst in Marc, you're disappointing.

🧵 I was a child when when David Gunn was murdered, but I remember when it happened, because we talked about it at church. In my Sunday school class for young children, the teacher told us what happened and said that murders like that actually saved lives, and he suggested that God might approve.
I did clinic defense in New Haven when I was 18 and yes, the protesters there did not physically hurt anyone those time, but when you galvanize people to get as close as possible to vulnerable people and scream “murderer and baby killer” at them, the pathway to violence is very short.
