The irony is, there actually IS one person I can think of who talks eloquently, and often, about how his faith informs him as a person and a citizen, and who does it in a way that even atheists listen to and respect. But CBS canceled his late-night show and it’s going off the air in May.

My early NY resolution has been to stop saying "AI" without specifying, especially LLMs/chatbots vs. machine learning. Too often the costs/risks of the former (energy use, disinfo, etc.) are justified with the benefits of the latter (better vaccine development! spotting wildfires quickly! etc.)

I agree that it’s 100% true that the eyeballs are all on short form video - and man, it’s still really depressing how the necessity of Doing Video nowadays seriously disadvantages people who aren’t conventionally attractive (or who just genuinely can’t stand being on camera)
The one thing I keep thinking about is how much direct to camera stuff rewards physical attractiveness. I mean, that's gotta be part of the reason these wellness influencers are successful, right? And you're competing for eyeballs with them.
i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.
