This is wild: Trump’s ICE detained a UK journalist hours after he urged US leaders to be “America First” & not “Israel First.”
DHS tweeted he supported terrorism, but his only charge was a visa overstay.
As in: Trump revoked a journalist's visa, so agents could arrest him for overstaying his visa.

BREAKING: British Muslim Journalist to Be Freed From ICE Detention
Sami Hamdi was detained after Islamophobic influencers called for him to be deported. Turns out the Trump admin revoked his visa, and then arrested him for overstaying his visa.

My presumption is that democratic leadership in the senate are content with this given that the only thing they could give salience were the ACA extensions that they still chose to abandon
Serious injuries went untreated, medications were denied or scaled back, and needed medical appointments were delayed at the ICE detention center.
New York’s Largest ICE Prison Dogged by Allegations of Shoddy Medical Care
“It's just freak luck that no one has died in Batavia in the last two years," one advocate said of medical treatment in the ICE prison.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.
The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.
The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.
Why?
It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

I'm a patriot. This means I will gladly die of a treatable health condition due to inability to afford either health insurance or medical care if it means my death preserves the beloved filibuster as conceived in the beautiful brain of James Madison. Wait, Madison didn't put it in there? Ah, well.

The Bodleian Libraries opened for the first time on 8 November 1602...
This means, we're older than the refracting telescope (1608), the publication of Shakespeare's Hamlet (1623) and Sir Isaac Newton's apple (1666)! 😅

This might be read as dooming, but it actually gives me hope. We, as a society, *can* just all decide to call this all a load of horseshit and get rid of it. It's not impossible. There was a time before all of this, and there will be a time after it.
One thing that strikes me is just how fake all of our problems related to government are
The filibuster isn't in the Constitution, and every single Framer would be apoplectic that it exists.
The government shutdown was invented in 1980
The 9-justices limit was invented to stop the New Deal
