The wise man does not break into his fellow's speech. He is not in a rush to reply. He asks what is relevant and replies to the point. Of what he has not heard he says, "I have not heard," and he acknowledges what is true.

What's happening to Greene is the best sign yet that Trump has reached his lame duck phase. She wouldn't be doing this if she feared him even a little.

Yup. The vibe is real.
We’re at a turning point in the Trump presidency. You can feel it. The elections proved it. Polling backs it.

Trump’s era of false power and authoritarian fear is being replaced with a lame duck era defined by political weakness.

Slowly but surely, the vibe is shifting.

genuinely perfect that the interview with Olivia was done by Jacob Bernstein, the child of Nora Ephron and Carl Bernstein, who themselves had a monumental scandal that involved romance, adultery, and the highest echelons of the literary and journalism worlds

Christ, is there anyone doing anything in public life today who isn't the child of someone famous?

I thought the earlier news from A&M was bad, but this is incredibly bleak. It’s close to the point of not having a functional university.

Focus on their Board of Regents who imposed this policy on the university after firing a professor, department chair, dean, and the president over this exact issue.
Beat up on @tamu.bsky.social all you want. They deserve it.

But TAMU didn't do this all by themselves. There's plenty of blame to go around for sinking another great public university.

Please save some outrage for the Republican legislators and state officials who created a legal pretext for this.

If we've learned anything, it's that the relatives of famous people are singularly unqualified for anything important.
NEW: Jack Schlossberg, President John F. Kennedy's only grandson, has launched a campaign in N.Y. to replace retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler in Congress.

I don't even teach there but I'm thinking about checking with them anyway.
If you have tenure at Texas A&M and aren't maliciously emailing the president a dozen times every day to ask if you can say this or you can say that, then what's the point in having tenure?

My dad ran a prison ministry before his death. Their big outreach was buying soap & shaving cream for inmates
b/c TX provides about a credit card of soap per month. The ministry was supplying the basic necessities the state should (as the state fought to not air condition the prisons).
She’s certainly getting unusual amenities, but I have to say the choice to lead this piece with “unlimited toilet paper” is fuckin bizarre.
Apparently, Ghislaine Maxwell is living it up in prison with unlimited toilet paper. Here’s what we know about her alleged special privileges at her new federal prison camp in Texas.

Talking about structural racism does not shame any particular race. Not talking about it does.
Texas A&M Tightens Rules on Talking About Race and Gender in Classes www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/u...

“The policy defines race ideology as, among other things, ‘a concept that attempts to shame a particular race or ethnicity.’”

These GOP-led efforts will ruin their states’ public universities. Sad!

Since the invention of 24/7 cable news, journalism has been on a slow descent into mediocrity and below.
Disappointing that speaking “Truth to Power” has become an afterthought since Power now owns news outlets.
At the same time the NY Times was hyping Hillary Clinton's emails, it had a reporter with emails from Jeffrey Epstein that were highly damaging to Trump.

The more NYT apologists try to minimize this the clearer it becomes that they don't understand why much of the public doesn't trust legacy media.

JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."
