Anyone in my feed made the switch to Linux? I’m building a little Ubuntu homelab server and a bit intimidated where to start. Probably gonna start with setting up Pi-Hole, but not sure what to try next

"We Beat 'Em Before... (Portland's Version)"

This idea came to me late. I think it fits really well since Portland Frog Brigade literally carries no weapons and yet ICE has no idea how to respond to them. Just feckless incompetent goons all around.

I was shocked when I joined ILM as a FT employee that I would get paid overtime(!) and overtime pay(!!!) after coming from a career in games.

Unions work folks!!

Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead.

I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.

As somebody at a remote-only studio, I can only stare at the rest of the industry in disbelief.
Again I say: how fucking interesting that remote work technology is bad and not worth adopting despite all research pointing to productivity gains, but genAI which offers NOTHING is so important to adopt and force on people who have no use for it despite all the horrible things genAI does

Extraordinary courage from Ahmed al Ahmed, a Muslim, 43-year-old father of two, who bravely risked his life to save his neighbors celebrating Hanukkah.

Praying for his full & speedy recovery.

And so deeply inspired by his example.

Cannot stress how bad shit is about to get if you want to build any kind of PC.
Crucial is shutting down — because Micron wants to sell its RAM and SSDs to AI companies instead. It’s already getting hard to build an affordable PC, and the exit of the longstanding provider of consumer memory is going to make that even more challenging www.theverge.com/news/837594/...

I understand why people stay on services that suck but not Spotify. There’s so many other platforms that are 1-to-1 the same but with less garbage if not objectively better.

Working in games means your answer to the question "If you could do anything you wanted in life, what would it be?" isn't a different career, but the same career in a kinder version of the same industry.

Santa Ragione, a venerable, innovative and award-winning studio, may close due to @valvesoftware.com's unaccountable, counter-factual ban. From an early build of HORSES I can easily say it's another award-contender.

Valve can still rectify this poor judgement.

Played Horses at a Day of the Devs and was immediately obsessed. You want to talk about games being artistic endeavors? SAVE HORSES.
Our upcoming game HORSES was preemptively banned from Steam, with no path to appeal. The game will still launch next week on December 2nd and will be available on EGS, GOG, Humble, and Itch for $4.99. Here is a detailed FAQ covering what happened: horses.wtf/BannedFromSt...

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

The thing that strikes me about replacing voice actors with AI slop is that, in the scope of a big AA/AAA production it barely saves money? These people aren't even full time. It's immizerating people because immizerating people is your goal, nothing more.
