I’ve been in game dev for 26 years and I can’t remember any other time where a specific tech was being insistently and persistently pushed on devs as a group in the public sphere.
Why would it? Cui bono? Why would any given dev have an interest in other devs using tech they don’t have a stake in?

My conspiracy theory about genAI in games blowing up more and more by big companies is that they’ve all got a ton of investors insisting they use genAI tools otherwise they(investors) won’t be able to bankroll em anymore

Not thrilled to find that “Grokipedia” has added a ton of articles since launch… including one on me that ironically goes way deeper on trans liberation topics but also hallucinates details of games, my year of birth, and includes an explanation of why my parents got divorced?!? Gee thanks, LLM

Just a reminder that makes this confusion even more "fun..." teams at multiple large studios (which will remain unnamed) are rumored to be labeling more classical algorithmic techniques (like anything proc gen) as "AI" to mollify execs/investors' desire to slap that sticker on everything
one thing I find irritating about the AI hype/discourse cycle... among others... what is AI? Is caves of qud "AI" generated? Do we *really* morally distinguish b/w wave function collapse and deep learning/transformers as algos? maybe that CoQ is ethically trained and run locally the difference?

I realize, of course, that the disgusting process of extruding raw thought into grammar ("writing") often reveals the contents of one's skull as a foetid mass of unresolved trauma and resentment. Nevertheless, I feel I should receive temporary immunity when volunteering to write a 500-word essay.
