Re: last repost

About 25 years ago, I noticed the same funny thing about games framed as brutal competition but where cooperative play IS possible. It also happened in the first multiplayer online game I designed: co-op peer pressure vs "bad form" PVP! Ever since I've been more interested in co-op.

Turns out he meant this literally, he is actually on track to burn around $50 billion in a year and does not care

Amazingly the second chart in this report continue the theme, with “yeah, people sure say a lot of different stuff about how much AI is being used!” Whole report has the “boss asked me to report on this and the answer is WHO FUCKING KNOWS but I have to write that nicely!?” energy. GJ bankers

Original report here: www.dallasfed.org/research/eco... and an excerpt.
“Under one view of the likely impact of AI, the future will look similar to the past…” (singularity is speculative yadda yadda) then basically “Goldman Sachs says everything COULD stay the same so let’s go with that”
November 7, 2025 at 2:37 PM
An amazing chart-crime from researchers at the Dallas Fed to illustrate “Gosh people sure say a lot of things about AI singularities but most of it is kind of unhinged speculation! So let’s assume things will keep being normal! Some of the economists did a conservative projection that says that…”

Any sci-fi fans who still can’t wrap their heads around how a system like a LLM can appear to be intelligent without ever being conscious or having any conscious intents, goals or opinions would do well to read Peter Watts’ Blindsight, a prescient narrative explanation

Kalshi posting subway ads showing months of odds history, in NYC, during early voting, feels like a weird flex, also possibly suppressive, illegal vibes etc. Also turning everything into money bets is gross and boring

You know I think I like the uncanny valley more these days than the other side, "the barely-canny slopmarsh." This definitely qualifies as the former. Clear provenance too. Chef's barf-kiss. (via Chris Heatherly using LTX-2)

The true underlying "gender ideology" the right fears is simply that "living up to one solid, societal definition of masculinity" is nothing more than a huge scam used to exploit, control and abuse people, one long string of "fellas is it gay..." jokes.

I do not know what led this asymmetric coop game to show up on the NYU Game Center 's front door today unless it was me quietly praying "Robert Moses... did bad things..." at bedtime. But it looks great and is going right in the library

Oops this aspect was reported in a different story (the Post) but here it is. eally says something notable that the GOP in this case was too nervous to let a LLM get all weird with roleplaying as a Democrat with access to actual policy text in concept -- might have been hard to beat?! LOL

The origin story of social deduction games is pretty wild, you guys… it’s like half Soviet organizational-development psychology (its own wild field of game design) and quarter Soviet “games were frowned upon” and quarter frustration about undergrads not saying anything in class

HEY NYC! Tomorrow night in downtown Brooklyn we're proud to host Dimma Davidoff, creator of Mafia and a founding figure of social deduction games in general, giving a talk called "MINIMUM VIABLE MYSTERY." Free, open to public, 7 PM!

Now convinced that I CAN like the traditional dad videogames, the games where you're a dad and you protect your precious child and then they become better than the dad at the thing in the game (in this case, walking with legs)

Mostly true if the kids are three very good chickens

here's my cheat sheet in case anyone ever gets stuck on this. why would you unless you're trying to troll some trolls, really

At last... I beat the secret boss of Baby Steps. I am referring to this thing. If you don't know what it is that's good. Stay on the level where you're just putting rooms into the mansion to find more rooms. No wait... that's Blue Prince. Just walk up some stairs

The semi-stealth vibes are especially notable given the unhinged frenzy on X about data where the biggest-looking spike shows... a difference of about ~80 prep-school students checking "non-binary?"

Yes, Matt. It's all over, you won. Go back to sleep, transgenders are gone... don't worry about them

Look, I've been one of the rearmost advocates of "visibility sucks" for decades, but wow... the Verge really waited three whole days after National Coming Out Day to launch the Hide Hide Right Away Everybody Hide special issue huh? I'm sorry, I mean the Being Trans On the Internet special issue

I traced the exact provenance of the long-term memory reference which unexpectedly surfaced yesterday to influence this pumpkin. It turns out it's page 33 in the appendix to the instruction manual for Sorcerer (1984), the Field Guide to the Creatures of Frobozz, which I viewed once in the late 80s
