Here’s why Trump gets away with simply labeling his enemies ‘terrorists’
OPINION: Trump’s attempts to redefine terrorism to fit his agenda are the outgrowth of a selective concept that political actors have been carrying out for decades, Shirin Sinnar writes.

Really hard to look at this and all the other examples of bravery and kindness from ordinary people in this moment not think also of the tremendous cowardice exhibited over the past year by some of the richest, most well-protected people in business, media and politics
Let us all have the courage displayed by the residents of Minneapolis.

ICE murdering people of any citizenship status should be a very hard line in the sand for absolutely every single one of us. And at this point, I think they’ve done it seven or eight times if you’re waiting for a tipping point, the tipping point was the first time this happened.

I'm sorry, but I just think it's very telling when we differentiate between ICE's killing of American citizens versus undocumented immigrants. And I'm seeing that a lot right now.

It is perfectly reasonable and, in fact, moral to be shaken, bereft and enraged by that woman’s murder. And all that her murder represents. Let the hurt wear you out.

But also, let the hurt push you to reach out and connect with people in your life who get it. Do NOT allow the hurt to isolate you.

Absolutely beautiful piece.

As a Muslim, it renewed my love for the Qur’anic Jesus & Mary, & how they are in dialogue with the Biblical stories. Thank you.

Prayers for more justice & more peace in 2026.
My latest on what reading the Quran can teach us during Christmas. "Personally, it has made my faith more capacious to encounter the holy in other traditions, tracing both the ways that its truth coincides with what my tradition teaches, or offers a critique or other way of believing."
“My advice to read the Quran is usually met with a mix of skepticism and surprise, as Christians are not used to looking outside of their tradition for meaningful reflections on their most sacred figures.”
