Sometimes, I worry that I'm not cool enough, but then I remember I have a Lego Hamlet and laugh that I ever doubted myself
Taking myself on a date to the cinema tomorrow evening to watch H is for Hawk!

Never gone alone before but I've decided I need to take myself on dates more often. I wonder if I'll get the pre-date jitters? Will I like me? Do I shave my legs?

This entire thread 🧵
Seeing yet another 'using whistles is disablist' piece circulating: for the 40 millionth time, using disabled people as cover like this is disgusting and calculated to prey on people who are anxious about doing the wrong thing. Doesn't escape notice that white people are the worst offenders.

This takes me straight back to summer evenings spent laughing over a pint in the Granta (or as our college fondly named it 'seminar room 3'!)
Pastel of Newnham Mill pond, Cambridge, with punts and the Granta pub. Note the ducks swimming through the water lilies in the foreground.

He's great at this. Unrattled, reasonable, and manages to make this ridiculous question look just that without overdoing it.
#bbclaurak tries to get a gotcha. Zack, you refuse to fly. How can you be a candidate for high office if you'd refuse to ever get on a plane?

Well Laura, in that situation I'd get on a plane.

“You are good to go.” Good to go?!?!

This is what ICE tells a young woman they tossed out into dangerously freezing temperatures after four agonizing days in detention at Whipple.

"Don't let anyone tell you that this isn't your home" ❤️
Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

This made me cry, no lie. Complicated reasons, one being its fuck you to the baked-in structures and strictures of the world that consider harm to be inevitable.

I am very very happy for my tax to go towards the education of others.

Supporting other people to thrive is exactly where I want my tax to go, actually.

Lots of tears and feeling exhausted by grief tonight but I am so grateful to have this little face right by my side at all times. Dogs bring so much joy

I haven't been to church (as in the organised service in a building sense) regularly for two years. My faith in God has not been shaken. My love for and trust in the Church definitely has.

I've started reading Rachel Held Evan's 'Searching For Sunday: Loving, Leaving & Finding the Church' and

If you live in the UK and you were shocked to see the US ICE seize a 5 year old boy, don't forget this is what Nigel Farage and the Reform Party UK want for our country.

My labrador ADORES singing. And by adores I mean that when ever B or I sing around the house she goes up onto her back legs to get us to hold her paws and dance with her.

It's bizarre that some politicians are trying to behave as if the US president were sane, or capable of reason or moral judgement.

Oh, I love living in Yorkshire!
Yorkshire’s small gardens are places of quiet ingenuity, tucked behind terraces, squeezed beside stone cottages, or folded into hillsides, where every inch is made to count. Weathered walls shelter herbs, pots climb upwards instead of outwards, and beauty is built

Went for my first lot of blood tests investigating our recurrent miscarriages & the phlebotomy waiting room is directly outside the door of the maternity unit. I sat with my head down - as pregnant people & those with their newborns passed by me for 30 mins - sobbing.

Such a cruel situation.

Yes. All of this 🧵
the thing is, universal human rights are only universal if they include everyone, even the groups of people society has decided are less important (children, prisoners, people with names you can't pronounce, homeless people, the unemployed, disabled people who don't make good inspiration porn, etc)
