Tortoises do this adorable thing where they balance on three legs to grasp leaves that are out of reach. These animals are endlessly fascinating.

Tilly is now 6 months old and weighs 33 g. The first time I weighed her was 9/9/25 and she was 17.5 g and 2 months old.

"On January 2, it’s time to get serious–back to work, back to school, back to my regularly scheduled programming. The schedule I need to give my life structure is thrown aside once or twice a year and I despise its return." Read on at amysondova dot substack dot com

What topics would you like to see me write about on my Substack in 2026?

More mental health? More about my life/thoughts? Challenges with growing up evangelical? My pets? What it’s like to write a novel? Something else?

Interested in your thoughts.

I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror realized my hair has strong Tinkerbell vibes.

Here’s hoping for a more magical 2026 and a sprinkle of pixie dust, just in case!

Officially in my side bangs era! The hairstylist suggested it & i figured why not? Hair grows. Wait until I dye them magenta. #midlifesidebangscrisis

I got this mug from BFF Sarah that can't be used in the microwave or dishwasher, so I plopped this fake plant I had sitting around into it and magic! New decor for my desk!

Found 4” plastic balls on clearance so I played around until I got the right fit. These are granny stitches on 4”, 3.15”, & 2.6” balls. I love making these and can’t wait to sell them next holiday season…but if anyone is interested in any now, let me know. I have a lot.

The Great Christmas Eve Day Cookie Delivery is underway!

I’m sorry I’ll be sans Santa sequin jumpsuit due to a knee injury. I had an injection on Tuesday and didn’t want to trip, like I do. 😉

With a few exceptions, our cut-out cookies came out cute.

And I just really love my tortoises. ❤️🐢🐢

BFF Sarah recognized we were listening to the “Last Christmas” playlist by the third song this year! It’s a new record!

Link to my playlist featuring only covers of “Last Christmas” as well as the original in comments.

It’s fun to see who notices the same song is playing over and over again. 🤣

“Dad must have sat there and watched over eight hours of child’s programming because the commercials were carefully edited out.“ That’s true love from a father to his child. Read on at my Substack.

AND…

What is a gift you received that seemed unimpressive to others?

Holiday Tip for Pet Parents: Remove all toys & chews from the item before wrapping it so your eager dog or cat or whatever can get to their present right away. They don’t have a lot of patience!

Make a clever title for this holiday movie starring Trevor Noah, James McAvoy as Mr. Tumnus, Tytus the Russian tortoise, & me. 🤣

Christmas dreams do come true!!! Clearly NOT AI! 🤣🤣🤣

From my Substack: “It’s not that I don’t want material items, but I would trade them for impractical and impossible wishes, like a date with Trevor Noah (our dinner conversation would be amazing.)”

What’s your fave melancholy Christmas/seasonal song?

Me: “Same Old Lang Syne” by Dan Fogelberg & “River” by Joni Mitchell, but I love the Sarah MacLachlan version best.

Granny balls for all!

I make little wreath ornaments and decided to give one (without any glitter) to Tilly. I need to find another non-glitter one for Tytus. I used a metal ornament hook to hang it on the top of the bin.
