I stopped going to a gaming store after I happened to visit on a Sunday when the owner wasn't around but the regulars were, so they felt safe loudly discussing The Gender Issue with part-time staff.
So I simply did not return.

I spent an excessive number of years moderating a gaming forum and I learned a great deal about community spaces and cultivation, whether I wanted to or not. I have critical advice for anyone who runs a game store or gaming convention. Please share this thread with people who run those things.

like maybe if you’re successfully able to galvanize and weaponize people on the internet into driving someone off from a marginalized demographic then you’re not actually all that oppressed and are, in fact, participating in the oppression of others.

Hard to say if it “worked” … it was never given the chance. But I can tell you that arresting people for using drugs has never stopped people from using drugs. (It definitely causes them to hide their drug use though.)

Hard to say if it “worked” … it was never given the chance. But I can tell you that arresting people for using drugs has never stopped people from using drugs. (It definitely causes them to hide their drug use though.)
