Was asked again recently why I'm still masking? So basically I said two things. I've read enough about covid to know that it's still here, still causing problems and that I don't want it. 2nd, I'm the caregiver for my wife with Alzheimer's and I cannot afford to get sick or get disabled myself.

Poverty , food and rent insecurity, homelessness, the disabled in forced poverty are all policy choices between both federal and provincial governments. Canada is not performing well on those measurements in my opinion. We have a long way to go and frankly I'm sick of excuses.

If PM Carney is serious about his government not having all the good ideas and open to ideas then I have a suggestion. How about reforming the archaic social net into a functional UBI and truly investing in people and not leaving anyone behind.I think that would be a good start. That would be bold.

This is abhorrent. We should not be harvesting old growth trees for biomass pellets.
Official data from government of British Columbia, along with satellite monitoring, backs claims that a Canadian subsidiary owned by Drax sourced 250-year-old trees to manufacture biomass pellets as recently as this year

Carney’s next book should be called “Value($): Building a better world for very rich people, burning it up for everyone else.” Or: “How I caved to the oil and gas industry, and did it with a smile on my face.”

What if we convince the elite to greenlight universal basic income by pointing out that we'll burn everything they have to the ground and salt it so nothing so evil grows n its place? 🤔

(I know it wouldn’t be fair when they’re already so rich but something something sugar with medicine)

Talking to old acquaintances online who still volunteers when he can at his church food Bank and he said he has never seen it so bad . The last few years have steadily gotten worse in terms of need.He is angry at all levels of government because he says they have done jack shit . I agree. The cons

One thing you find out , not being able to afford a lawyer because frankly you can't afford it , getting the power of attorney for my wife's situation is hard. Dealing with the government is a bloody nightmare especially.Every layer is a bureaucratic nightmare.

"We could end up with shortages." Our government is being run by people who are both immoral and incompetent. There is no reason for us to experience shortages. That would be a choice made. Make America Great Again? These people are destroying everything that ever made us great.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Are we starting to see a permanent impact on the economy from the shutdown?
BESSENT: It's getting worse and worse. We had a fantastic economy under Trump the last 2 Qs, and now there are estimates that growth this Q could be cut by as much as half. We could end up with shortages.

So a conservative with a leader who's completely tone deaf in changing his message , crosses the floor to join another conservative party more or less.Shocked lol it's too bad the NDP imploded and the Greens can't get any traction. If you're truly a progressive, you have no hope right now federally.

NS Premiers anger at Poppies is a distraction from his utter incompetence and playing to the pickled brains that like his bs. Healthcare a mess, affordable housing/rent dreadful, child poverty bad, food insecurity, income assistance punitive and inadequate, need I go on.Worst premier in my lifetime.

You know it's tough enough to watch your wife begin to lose herself to Alzheimer's dementia but the stress of the inadequate supports in place financially ,wears you out . It makes me extremely fucking angry how pathetic the disability amounts are , which I long advocated for changes for more

Saw a post from former PM Trudeau getting his flu and COVID booster and encouraged others to do the same . Too bad he wasn't masked but I'll take a small victory just the fact he was willing to encourage others to do the same.

I'll never forget when a few politicians campaigning years ago came to my door . I always asked about the prices of groceries , average rent etc... and pretty much every time only the NDP candidate could answer that . The libs and con stumbled and that told me they had no clue the struggles.

How's anyone ever heard Carney say COVID or long COVID . I'm sure his Goldman Sachs and other corporate heads don't want him saying that . He has been as bad as any far right wing nut by ignoring the increasing impact of COVID creating disability . Maybe why they are pushing MAID more.

Canada needs a Zohran Mamdani to emerge to lead a new party or emerge inside the Greens or even NDP.The closest in Canada I would say is Web Kinew in Manitoba who could shake up the federal NDP one day if he so wishes. But both the Greens and NDP need new leaders . Not impressed by any NDP leader

Once again , libs did nothing to help the disabled live in dignity. The 200 dollar amount introduced back in July is a slap in the face . It's jack shit and a pain in the ass to get as well. We have a lite conservative government in charge . That's how far we have drifted to the right.

I will keep screaming, writing , pushing for a UBI and proper disability benefits that can give the disabled dignity . Governments can throw money around like it's Kool aid to corporations, tax breaks to the wealthy . But when you elect people who never had a clue how they are going to

I've said this in the past , but from now on if a UBI is not literally in a party's platform, I will tell you to take your policy, your party and..... well you get the picture. I voted against my gut last federal election, it's never going to happen again.
