I will not apologize for saying somethings in Canada are broken. But that doesn't mean I don't believe they can't be fixed by changing the current actions of governments at all levels .But I can't see things truly changing for the better when I see all current policies in play. We need true change.

UK and Norway won nature's lottery in 1970 - found oil/gas in the North Sea.

UK squandered wealth, appeased corporations.

Norway levied 78% tax, took direct stake in companies.

Norway now has $1.8 trillion sovereign fund. UK has public finance crisis.

UK Govts still appeasing corporations/rich.
How sparsely populated Norway amassed $1.8 trillion | Fortune Europe
Launched in the early 1990s to invest mostly in bonds, the fund has grown to become the largest of its kind by acquiring small equity stakes in thousands of companies across the world.

I've learned over the last 5 years plus to argue with anti vaxxers and those that think climate change is a hoax is frankly wasted energy. They are so deep in a cultist mind set it's impossible to break through.

UBI Works founder @floydmarinescu.bsky.social's op-ed in The Star

As a entrepreneur, Floyd knows corporate tax cuts aren't what drive innovation and entrepreneurship — certainty, consumer demand, and economic security do. That's what Basic Income delivers.
Why Canada’s proposed corporate tax relief is not the answer
Tax cuts are not what motivates investors or entrepreneurs, they’re not what creates jobs, and they undermine the things that do.

While I'm no fan of the libs budget at all , zero help for those in need , nothing for the disabled, zero help for affordability but with NDP in search of a soul ,Green party unable to resonate ( time for a new leader ) and a hateful PC leader , who didn't think it wouldn't pass lol .

A proper UBI in place would have given my wife and myself a place to at least face her Alzheimer's diagnosis and me becoming her caregiver without the constant battle to get inadequate government help that currently exist.Im not kidding saying each month is so insecure financially, it's hell.

“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas & city center in 2021.”
Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death
The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.

My wife is in a deep Alzheimer's dementia psychosis state.Sadly all the techniques I've been shown and read about have not worked to help her bring her out of it. So meds will probably have to happen asap. It's so heartbreaking.Spoke to her care team on Friday and will be followed up on Monday.

Brava to this 14 year old giving Megyn Kelly a badly-needed reality check.

American Fascist Party talking heads are quite comfortable portraying Dems as morally wanting. Yet here we have one of the most prominent splitting hairs over THE MOST DISGUSTING CRIME IMAGINABLE.

MAGA - you OK with this?
I normally don't post/repost anything about Megyn Kelly. She is - as one poster put it - a vapid c*nt who just wants her 15 minutes.

However, I'm glad that this young lady I am posting was given permission by her parents to post this 👇🏽💙 Spot on dear! 💙

Alzheimer's dementia is a strange, bizarre thing. I've gone between a complete schmuck,to the greatest man all in less than an hour , sometimes literally minutes. The changes are utterly unpredictable and my wife fuses some reality into a twilight zone land, beyond understanding.Truly heartbreaking.

The reality is as they become more advanced and they will , what sector of jobs won't be affected? None . Even construction. Governments need to get on board with a real UBI now and be visionary instead of stuck in the past .

A sleekly choreographed video showcasing UBTECH's latest creation.

We're years away from widespread integration of humanoid robots with the dexterity required to replace humans in industrial factories and construction sites, but when it begins in earnest, it'll be a flood. We need UBI before that.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Strang, still hasn't told Nova Scotians that covid is primarily airborne going into year 5 of the pandemic. Our journalists and political opposition won't even ask. 🐘🤫
So judge the character and competence of public health and infection control leaders based on their actions. Yes, some require resources and buy-in. But others, such as information-sharing, are low-hanging fruit - failure there is a *choice*.

Check if yours shared the information in this thread:
From populists on the right, but also from establishment figures desperate to bury their responsibility, there's an ongoing push to bury the harms of COVID.

Long COVID alone costs 7M life-years (QALYs) and on the order of a trillion dollars a year in the OECD.

In Halifax you want people to take a bus then change the way it runs. I personally hate the bus , always have. I'd rather walk than take a petri dish but on top of that , for certain things it's crazy the time it takes for certain routes to get to some destinations.Since I've moved here , it's crap.

Today is my 38th wedding anniversary but it feels more depressing than celebrating. My wife's Alzheimer's dementia systems over the last 2 months have seemed to accelerate and she literally had no idea , even though I mentioned it numerous times over the last week. It's also my 62nd birthday

Universal basic income is nothing less than a goddamn human right just as much as universal healthcare and education are. And I don't care if anyone works less because we should be working less. We should have shorter weeks instead of bullshit jobs. We have the productive capacity to meet ALL NEEDS.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Not that I'd ever vote conservative again, but I do miss having a party that is a progressive conservative party in the classic tradition of say a Robert Stanfield. Someone that was strong on universal healthcare and had a care for the social structures that help common people. In today's Canada

When the government decided to let COVID-19 loose, they decided at that exact same time to do two things.

Make life difficult and lonely for elderly and disabled people.

Kill elderly and disabled people by playing dress up and pretend it’s 2019, because we want to be “kind”.
