these types of paintings are so disturbing to me because you can tell for how realistic some of them are, even when it's stylized, that the artist who made it isn't influenced by prescribed hollywood media like today, and likely saw some shit with their own eyes

This is a good thread to read. I will only add that I do not get ANY social-media notifications or news alerts on my phone and it is a foundational building block of my sanity that no nonhuman entity, not even Bluesky, gets to initiate conversations with me.
That's how I'm going to approach social media going forward. I'll get on it when I want to sit down at a computer and physically go to a website, or when I have to use it for work during work hours, but it's not going to be in my pocket notifying me of every single DM, like or reply instantly. 6/

Half the battle with this guy is just reiterating government can and already does good things that are so ubiquitous they’ve become invisible. He’s able to remind you in a way that you understand that good government can exist outside of a 24/7 vengeance operation, and in NYC already does.

1. Chess is weirdly preoccupied with nationality. Players are primarily identified by the country they belong to. I think this is so weird. Canada, for example, has nothing to do with me playing chess.

Roughly each week since mid-December, I've been consistently beating my previous highest chess ranking. I'm glad that Chess . com shows you your rankings over time in a bar graph because it shows me I'm consistently improving.
