The Ford government has been so chaotically fiscally irresponsible that literally billions of dollars have been wasted, misspent, or misappropriated. How did Rae Days make countless boomers terrified to ever vote NDP again, but the Cons get away with this over and over.
I’m getting pretty tired of our Premier coming up with terrible ideas that obviously won’t work, spending millions of our dollars on studies that will inevitably confirm that they won’t work, and ignoring thise studies. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Ontario taxpayers are set to spend $9.1 million to learn if or how it is feasible to build a tunnel under Highway 401

As Mamdani nears victory, Democrats worry about national fallout
The progressive candidate is on the cusp of a historic mayoral win. And that's adding to unease among Democrats looking for a way back to national power.

I will never forgive Andrew Wakefield, Jenny McCarthy, the Parents' Rights movement, every "just asking questions" anti-data asshole, and everyone who thinks that reading some blog posts "doing my own research" is more valuable than rigorous scientific study.

No more Black or trans staffers. No politics of any kind. The cowardice of mainstream media isn't just insulting, it's *boring.* Now TV is just like any other beauty rag. Why not just kill it quickly? Why the slow-motion pretense?
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.
now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

After texting with my BFF Jeff I am now confused and wondering if it's just cishet guys who don't seem to get Cronenberg's humour, because he was uncertain about even The Fly being funny beyond Goldblum being an inherently funny actor.
What is going on.
What is going on.
There's this constantly regurgitated talking point among Movie People that Cronenberg's filmmaking is humourless (stated offhand as a given), and I get increasingly DERANGED every time I hear it.
Cronenberg is a very deliberately funny and sly filmmaker, and has been since 1975.

Not having seen Texas Chain Saw Massacre was part of why I was diagnosed w autism (or rather, seeking out dozens of podcasts/essays/reviews for 2yrs w no intent to see it)
Well I finally watched it, so GREAT NEWS I'm not autistic anymore

One of the hardest things for me to reckon w is that my precautions started w facts. And the facts didn't change (they got worse). All that changed was everyone else got tired of precautions.
I had no exceptions w seatbelts, bike helmets, and condoms when I was single, why would this be different?

Kind of want to write a book called "The Neurodivergent's Guide to Surviving a Pandemic"™️ and the main premise of the book is that we don't care when neurotypical people tell us "but everyone else has moved on"

Me when a podcast ranks Crash (1996) as a top 7 Erotic HORROR film of all time.
My boy David's whole filmography of horny horror is right there, and you choose one of the few not-remotely-horror options??
It is the best Canadian movie ever made, my favourite Cronenberg, but STILL

All posthumous publishing of a writer's work is a profound transgression unless they explicitly wanted it released, and yes that means I think that Kafka being important is not a good enough reason to violate his wishes.
Also applies to CGI depictions of dead actors even if their family approved.

Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Watched Poltergeist for the first time last night at the tender age of 38 because @youaregood.bsky.social made me cry talking about Zelda Rubinstein's HIV/AIDS PSA.
A beautiful story of the hottest pot-smoking parents in your suburb ignoring their son's crippling anxiety disorder. I truly loved it.
