our terrible mayor. but we have ranked choice voting and no one will acknowledge that at some point we have to coalesce around a single candidate or ranking order, so the progressive candidates split the vote and the result is very likely frey again

The librarians said years ago “please get off academia dot edu”
What the French-fried fuckity fuck?

I emphatically did not opt IN to this and now I have to log in and opt OUT?

When you’ve already done a thing I not only disapprove of, but that also makes literally no sense?

You can’t turn my old paper into an analogy. That’s not how papers or analogies work

Honestly, House of Dynamite - which includes a intact White House, a fully staffed FEMA, and a *foreign* assault on Chicago - was a nice, escapist, feel good romp
It’s been a long time since I’ve been this shaken by a movie. Wow. I guess this means it’s a good movie.
“A House of Dynamite” wore me OUT. I watched it in the middle of the night and woke up stressed. It should come with a free therapy appointment.

Oh damn. As someone fighting for the life of the “art history lecture” as genre… this lands
flipped classrooms & the unquestioned shift toward “student-led learning” were also part of the deprofessionalization->adjunctification->mechanization program whose ultimate goal was a fully administrative university
The over-reliance on standardization as the mechanism for writing instruction really was a pretty unbeatable context to produce de-professionalized teachers okay with using AI to grade

Ransacking vandals
They know they won't be in power forever. So, they're breaking as much as they can right now, in the hope that whoever follows them won't be able to put it all back together.
NEW: @CDCgov hit hard by massive firings that several staff describe to me as a “bloodbath.”
Among those RIFd:

—leadership of global health center
—leadership of the measles outbreak response; 1/4

The Mayor has failed to implement the Emergency Housing Vouchers program meant to provide housing and wraparound services for 50 individuals/ 50 families experiencing chronic unsheltered homelessness.

He even proposed cutting the program entirely next year. It could have helped. 💔
Dear neighbor,

I am writing this update regarding the senseless acts of gun violence on Lake Street. 1/

Big anti-couch potato talk from a man whose name I know only because of daytime television
Mehmet Oz: "It is reprehensible to criticize the president on this I think very earnest effort to save Medicaid ... an able-bodied person on Medicaid today watches about 6.1 hours of television or just hangs out -- leisure time. That's a lot of time."

A US child has been abducted without due process by Israel and is being held in a notorious prison, very likely being subjected to torture.

This appears to be something neither the mainstream media nor US government care at all about.

Seems rather alarming.

If Davis and Hampton are still in it come November, you could still vote for them then.
