Objectively, there's nothing critically wrong with the ad itself — it's another Coke Xmas spot. What gives. 🤷🏻‍♂️

But it's this lame attempt to cover-up the whole AI thing what gets me, with "evidence" of human input clearly made up with AI itself. Come the F on. Bonus points for the faux Photoshops.
Mirroring the video here if you don't want to even humor going onto Twitter, but when it gets into the "process" section, there's so many red flags of them lying about the work they put into the commercial that reveal how much of this video is them trying and lying after the fact.

Take it from someone with a publisher to run and a slushpile: genAI still can't do comics worth a shit.

As the rest of family unit wasn't going to let me pass another week without Christmas'ing the house, and I had zero fuel to do anything else, deeds were done and now I just need some season tamales for breakfast 🫔🎄🎅

Sobering yet important read. That will be the proverbial big pile of manure hitting a thousand jet engines. Ain't that what we all wish for? Well...

In any case I hope it pops really soon because the "haha ur gitin replaced loser" joke got old and stale a long time ago. 🫠
What Happens When the AI Bubble Bursts?
When the AI bubble bursts - and it will burst - CEOs will be dethroned. Companies will lose billions. The economy - particularly in the US - will take a catastrophic hit. Data centres will suddenly ne...

LRP like yeah I will buy fanart and merch of properties I literally have never encountered before if I really like the artist. I’m not interested in the fourteenth-dozenth kpop demon hunters stickers down an artist alley. I want an artist’s personal deranged blorbos.

Well, today an old acquaintance surfaced by way of my newsletter. Asked me if I had any books for his daughter For him to buy.

No, just the @kcsanthology.bsky.social I said.

Long story short, he bought me a copy, shipping tomorrow.

Now I only need about 5.000 more people like him and I’m made. 🥲🤞
Remember, artists: when people say, “I’d buy a print of this,” they don’t mean it. That sentence itself is just a weird compliment that rarely converts to an actual print sale. It’s like if someone ate a very good hot dog and then said, “I could eat 10,000 of these right now.”

This film will turn 40 next year. And yes in light of everything that has happened in the US recently I think about how it all has gone against the very spirit of the film. Zohran's win for NYC may begin to turn the tide though. 🤞🏻🐭

I know @maxiem0us3.bsky.social likely has too.
It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life

Today in things happening on my town: A handmade, non-digital drawing contest where they give you 3 hours to make whatever they'll ask you to. While this is not an anti-AI thing in itself, I personally welcome anything that keeps human talent relevant. (and artists retain artwork rights)

Knowing that many great author / artist colleagues here are from the US east coast, and knowing the ongoing results of their mayoral elections, if they are happy, I am happy. 🥳🎆

I "blame" @boringstorybook.com for making me aware of this. 😅

I also came across another interpretation with a way more sinister meaning but won't put on spoilers here.

If I had 100% my way on this, this sounds like something up my alley.

Now, if we take out the politics and the cussing, we already have one prime example: Peanuts. 😅
I'm wondering if I just want to make kids' entertainment but with more cussing, sociopolitical themes and cosmic philosophical angst.

"Who is this for" indeed.

For all the amount of work they demand, comics/GNs should be a way more decently paid venture, instead of being one more plate to spin on top of a full time job and what have you.

True, our love for the craft often trumps many rationales and we just want to make the damn thing come what may. But —
Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"

The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on

Gotta say: when I was a kid Halloween trick-or-treating was itself a pretty normal thing here, never as flashy or costume-heavy as in the US but it existed. Over the years though it began morphing more into a closeted adult party thing with all that entails. Christmas is more culturally accepted. 🎃

Prior to creating Daniel I was fooling around with mice characters, still very influenced by some animated movies I got to know at the time. This (left) is one of his very first drawings around 1994. At right, how he looks today. He got joined by other OC friends over the years.
