Also, what does a machine know about eliciting emotions through storytelling? And not just in comics. Sure AI can produce a lookalike technically proficient render, but if it fails to connect emotionally through storytelling (a unique human trait), it’s just vapid visual noise.

My trouble with it is that it´s already been announced more times than the second coming of Christ and we’re still waiting.

But yeah, no longer being regarded as an “obsolete” resource would be nice 🥲

Personally I’ve been eyeing out the Amiens festival, with the added bonus of happening on a much nicer time of year ☀️

"Among the list of potential causes (of French BD market downturn) is a perceived oversupply/overcrowding of the market with too many publishers and new releases of titles to be considered sustainable."

Me, facing quite the opposite situation: so too much of a good thing isn't that good either 🤔

Indies are a given because they are always the ones getting less of a benefit of the whole situation. But at the same time it's a shame because they are often the ones with really innovative material and points of view.

Well that's the first English-language article I've found on the subject, which means, well — a big enough crappy situation. :P

On my past visits I sensed something wasn't going all right with the artist's regard for the organization, but now it is all too evident.

So I've got a Costco credit card because that's where I dump most of my money every month 🥲 so thought I'd rather get myself some payback for the trouble. And some I have indeed - bought shoes, chairs, clothing and even an instant pot using the card's points only.

When finances start drying up you get forced to really tell the needs from the wants 🥹 luckily at this time of year the "need" list is rather short and we're not into gifting stuff. Some things I've _only_ found it on Amazon, but others can be easily substitutable with goods from Costco.

Imagine forging a long-standing career as a matte painter and now having to deal with this.

Ironically, with simplistic, cartoonist styles is way easier to tell human from machine input. I'm safe... okay, sort of 😅

Why restaurant stuff is always so tasty:
- lotsa butter and salt
- tdgaf about your arteries 🥹

A local upscale supermarket currently has a promo of ST merch launched in October. As fas as numbers go they have barely sold 13% of their total inventory and doesn't look like that will improve anytime soon. I would absolutely hate to be the one responsible in their marketing department 🫠

Can't wait for the day where plastering "AI" on whatever becomes as appealing as smearing boogers on a table.

And this is why I stick to cartoony figures… I kid I kid. 😅

This always reminds me of what is called the Simpsons syndrome. Because in the beginnings of the show everyone was either under 10 or over 30 - no teens. They don’t call it the awkward age for no reason.

And yes I know if it were up to us we would just make art every day and not give two shits about money or legal crap or whatever. But sadly that’s not the world we live in, and if we had a collective conscience of that these grifters would have much less of a chance to screw us over.

The gullibility of so many artists still in this day and age. Why make something like this for free? What did they earn in exchange? Exposure? I’d rather have someone else commission me for that, to make it worth the time and the trouble. As the saying goes, fool me once…

Don't know why it reminds me of some collectively sponsored film where, okay, many did put money and ofc they gotta be mentioned somehow but... A ten minute intro if this is just laughable 🙃

Since I'm still comfy with Terminal and coding I always think I shouldn't have a hard time with Linux... buuut I always manage to be back to back busy with other things 🥲 and explore its possibilities in decent form. I've got a 2013 MBP around here that could serve me as testbed.
