I'm Mary (they/them), and I'm a UI/UX Lead at Insomniac. I've been in games for nearly 18 years. I was previously at Obsidian on Avowed, & UI Art Lead at Harmonix on Fuser, Dance Central, & Rock Band 4. I also worked on LOTRO, BioShock Infinite, & a number of indie titles.

@warren.senate.gov This is incredibly irresponsible of you to sponsor KOSA. It is blatantly an effort to categorize LGBTQ+ people themselves as inappropriate content. You're burning our right to exist.
Get on the horn and call Warren. She's usually on the correct side of issues, so it's bananas that she's sponsoring something so awful.
Just heard disappointing news that @warren.senate.gov will co-sponsor the Kids Online Safety Act again despite overwhelming opposition from LGBTQ, human rights, abortion rights, and racial justice groups.

That much money financing games by actual game developers would have financed 150+ of the highest budget AAA games, and the several orders of magnitude more jobs to produce them. Instead it was burned failing to produce advertiser-safe Second Life.

I know it's a tad early but I know those bitches with the buckets will be out soon. Don't gove them a penny. The volunteers may not know but the salvation army is no ally and actively combative and harmful to many queer minorities especially during the holiday season

As ever... the vast, vast majority of people don't want the hellscape the right is forcing on us. they really are the minority viewpoint. vocal? yes. powerful? unfortunately, yes. But there are so many more people who don't want to live in the world they're trying to make.

My fear has always been that I survive COVID. Dying, I don't care, I'm dead. If I survive but lose my ability to do my job--the things that bring me joy, and make money, and support other people than myself.... Taking that risk more than I absolutely have to isn't worth it.
As game developers, we are extremely hard workers whose trade is inextricably linked to our mental agility. Perhaps pubic appearances are unavoidable, but doing so unprotected in a crowded high-risk environment is just... reckless, frankly. For yourself, your team, your loved ones

"Age verification" laws are actually "upload your ID or get your face scanned to access every website, ending anonymity and associating your identity with everything you do online" laws and if more people understood that they would not be down for this authoritarian nonsense
