Discord has announced a major change coming to the service as part of its aim to improve teen safety features. Starting in March, all users globally will be required to submit age verification via a face scan or submitted ID, or be given teen-level access restrictions.

I really wish we had a well funded, power critical fourth estate interested in investigating the source of this clearly coordinated effort by payment processors.
Like, we keep seeing the impact of it, but I really want to know the "who" and the "why" beyond nebulous surveillance/puritanism forces.

I never give a fuck that I couldn't understand Dir En Grey's lyrics, I just knew that Kyo could fucking PROJECT. Millions of people listen to K-Pop who don't speak Korean. Hell, I remember when Nirvana got big, despite singing IN ENGLISH you got folks moaning about Kurt's "legibility". No one cares!
