It's neat that "fucked up albino," "fruity nationless spy," and "deathknight" are guys all cultures think is cool and Moorecock made like ten guys like that.

The whole "being tortured makes you psychic" concept is designed to make people argue about the validity of it, to find moneymaking rubes, and of course to make survivors and any evidence seem insane.
