Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.

i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist

To be fair, this *would* probably be the truest homage to Charlie Kirk's legacy: using "free speech" as cover to silence voices expressing opinions to the left of Pinochet.
The r/teachers subreddit is full of stories about lists of teachers who criticized Charlie Kirk (many listings without evidence) and harassment campaigns to get them fired. Free speech and open debate my ass. It’s the same as it always was—another way to destroy education
