One thing I am discovering from responses here is that there are people who think exercising impulse control is the same thing as lying.
I’m not saying that all nice behavior is pretending. But acting nice when we don’t FEEL nice is one of the primary things that holds a society together.

Late to the party, but Caleb Hearon’s special is magical. Every five minutes he fires off a phrase so casually, hilariously in love with language that it caught me off guard.

DAYLIGHT: A delightful throwback disaster picture with big explosions, great stunt work and one all-timer setpiece (the fans!). Stallone, in his uncertain mid-career, gives a self-effacing turn that reminds you he’s most likable when he’s behind the eight ball. Also there is a very good dog.

I am so deeply in love with the experimental video art of Steina and Woody Vasulka. This is a wonderful program they put together for Buffalo public television in 1978. Inspiring, pioneering, mind-boggling work. Watch it!

I am so deeply in love with the experimental video art of Steina and Woody Vasulka. This is a wonderful program they put together for Buffalo public television in 1978. Inspiring, pioneering, mind-boggling work. Watch it!

Any discussion over this has to begin with the fact that the kid ignored the parameters of the assignment. She didn’t “cite” anything. She deserved an F, and now she’s getting rewarded for whining about it. Meanwhile, a trans woman is being publicly punished for *accurately grading a paper*.
