I never really know what to put here.

Writer @batterypower.bsky.social
I think it was a good article in general, but i think it's also flawed.

1) Some of those trades were stupid at the time.
2) A number of those trades were used to acquire old and/or frequently injured players.
3) There are likely ways to front load deals to avoid them being bad for the ...
As @howardbeck.bsky.social pointed out in his column, the recent history of making blockbuster trades for superstars is mostly not great!

He’d obviously benefit any team that trades for him, but it’s fair to be skeptical of the expected acquisition price.

Going all in for Giannis is tempting, but history suggests it could end in disaster. “The NBA,” says one exec, “is not very good at learning from its mistakes.”

Should You Go All In for Giannis? History Screams No.
NBA teams love going all in for superstars. It almost never works.

The other thing is that then not knowing obvious national current events is a sign of them not doing their job. Your job is to be informed, not ignorant of things going on.
Stephanopolous finally doing what every journalist should be doing when they tell these obvious lies. Look how it put this idiot back on his heels so all he could do was say the most idiotic crap.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Do you support the pardon of the former Honduran president?

SCHMITT: I'm not familiar w/ the facts or circumstances

S: What do you mean you're not familiar? It's been front page news

SCHMITT: You spew Democrat talking points every single week, which is why your ratings are so bad

Here's my opinion: Teams are likely to tank toward the end of year, and he Pelicans are going to get Murray back. This is probably a top 10 pick, but if you can trade it like it's a top 4 pick right now, they should probably do it.

Usual caveat of depending on the rest of the deal, of course.
"Personally, I think [the Pelicans/Bucks superpick] is just too valuable to cede in any trade given how young the Hawks’ core is and the growing likelihood of adding a transcendent talent."

Maybe the Hawks feel differently, but PTH has one asset they'd prefer not to give up in any Giannis trade:

Well Rand, if you have the video ...
Rand Paul tells me that he wants the full video of the Venezuelan boat strike released.

“And I think if the public sees images of people clinging to boat debris and being blown up, I think that there is a chance that finally, the public will get interested enough in this to stop this.”

the @washingtonpost.com reports that 80% of aliens arrested in DC crackdown had no criminal record--932 individuals. (DHS spox Tricia McLaughlin routinely asserts that 70% of those arrested have US criminal records.)

One of the funniest things would be OKC saying fuck you to everyone and sending Hartenstein, Wiggins/Joe, Wallace, and a truckload of picks to MIL to get Giannis. Might not be enough of a headliner without one of the Big 3, but they have a compelling offer to make.
Wrote about Giannis. It looks like the next couple months will depend on just how badly he wants to join the Knicks and just how cautious NY will be if so www.teamziller.com/giannis-ante...
The Giannis crisis has arrived
The question is whether it's a crisis with an interregnum or not.

I don't think this is terrible or anything, but the Hawks are basically just trying to launch their aging window forward like 8 years. And they're still ... not good enough?
Alright Hawks fans: if Milwaukee wants Risacher, Johnson, the New Orleans pick, their own '27 pick, and Kennard for the salary match .... are you doing it to get Giannis?

I'll be honest. We do this for my kid all the time, though i get that's different from an adult. But still, seems fine if you pay for it.

I just saw a dude my age open up a box of granola bars, take out one, and just start eating it as he walked around Costco like it was a perfectly normal thing to do.

Reds are indeed interested in hometown hero Kyle Schwarber. Would be quite a coup if they could pull it off. Red Sox, Orioles, Pirates and others, including of course incumbent Phillies all in. 56 HR (including 23 vs. LHP obviously plays). @Ken_Rosenthal 1st linked Cincy

The Rockies are the Rockies, but this doesn't strike me as terribly bad.

Byrnes was unsuccessful a decade ago, but since then, he's worked with the most successful recent front office in the sport. It's not like Podesta leaving the sport altogether.

Otherwise, you're basically saying that ...
Rockies' POBO was with the Cleveland Browns most recently and their GM hasn't been a GM in 11 years

So is he just not the Commander in chief?
Reporter: If there were a second strike that killed wounded people, would that be legal?

Trump: I don’t know that happened and Pete said he did not even know what people were talking about. I wouldn’t have wanted a second strike. The first strike was very lethal. It was fine.
