Unconsciously Done

After falling at Hunsford parsonage, #MrDarcy wakes up with a devil of a headache to find Elizabeth Bennet weeping over him. Perhaps she is not as indifferent to him as she claims.

One of my highlights of 2025 was a two-week trip to the Brontë Parsonage Museum to research the role of American collecting in shaping the Brontë archive - kindly funded by a @officialbaas.bsky.social Research Assistance Award. Would definitely recommend applying for these!
🏆 Good news - the submission window has been extended to 6th January for multiple BAAS Awards including...

I visited the Brontë parsonage in Haworth, England and the moors were full of unblossomed heather and tough to walk in. It was really dreary and I can completely see how 'Wuthering Heights' came out of Emily's pen just from her bleak surroundings.

Love all the gables on this Victorian villa on Sandbank Street in the Maryhill area of Glasgow. It was originally the parsonage for the neighbouring St George's Episcopal Church, which has since been demolished.

This one has been on my TBR for far too long; I finally started it this weekend and, unsurprisingly, it's excellent.

As a Yorkshireman I don't have a choice when it comes to reading these novels. There's also only one place I can buy them from.

His 17,000 sqft home with a wing for him and one for his wife is not a parsonage.

He's awkward about *everything*. What he most needs is some gentle education from his bishop, that he should listen to the eternally patient Charlotte. And a hobby to fuss over and bring him harmless joy with other enthusiasts. Get the man a rain gauge, at a good few miles from the parsonage!

I love the whole building! Church, law offices, parsonage (at least when we got married) and then the Sky Chapel.

Pres Kennedy was killed in Nov 1963 - America was still grieving and Welcomed the Beatles in Feb 1964 on the Ed Sullivan show.

At begining of 7pm service the minister announced Teens would be leaving before the end of service - to watch Sullivan @ 8 in the parsonage across the street.
Fun times!

Vote for the ships that will become part of an artwork at Coronation Green, Shoreham. It was great to meet the artists working on the Shadow Ships project - Dawn Parsonage and Peter Hudson. You can have your say with a vote here: www.lightspacecolor.com/shadow-ships

I grew up in West Yorkshire so used to come here often but it's 30 years since I last came to the Brontë parsonage museum... such a gem of a small museum, very poignant.

Due to my error, we have FOUR chapters tonight. Darcy is in Kent, and he just keeps showing up EVERYWHERE, in drawing rooms and fields and even at the dang parsonage! I'm on the first two chapters tonight, and my pal Richard has the next two. Enjoy! #CandyCaneJane

The John Wesley Hotel was built in 1913, and the building is located on Savannah’s Reynolds Square. The hotel was built on the site of Wesley’s first parsonage. Since 1984, it has been known as the Planters Inn.

Haworth Parsonage, I live quite near so take it for granted. Went this year for the first time in ages, stood in the room where Jane Eyre, Agnes Grey and Wuthering Heights were all written and got goosebumps!

Lovely day in Haworth yesterday, visiting one of my favourite places,The Bronte Parsonage and wandering around enjoying this lovely village. Then on to Thornton to the Bronte Birthplace. Last time we visited it was a cafe so it was an absolute Bronte-lover must to tour the house with an expert!

they don’t want you to learn any history because then you’d know this is a 200 year old scam

I think this happened when Prosperity Jesus came to earth and made people like Joel Olsteen and the like rich. Now it's not about a congregation providing a parsonage for a preacher to live in. Preachers now have TV air time, private jets, million dollar homes. That's when the cruelty started.

This semester I only taught online, letting me teach from wherever I want

I only taught my own courses

I taught on the early Gothic (my specialism) at Liverpool Uni and Bronte afterlives (my love) at the Bronte Parsonage

Next semester I get to teach a popular romance course

Is this...the dream?
Finished my last class with the Bronte Parsonage for this year.

I'm going to miss them!

I always have some of the best discussions with the Bronte enthusiasts who come to these courses

And I got to share some of my favourite reimaginings and adaptations!

Having been to the Brontë Parsonage Museum, where you can look at various artefacts including dresses, shoes, and locks of hair... They were tiny all over, but especially the feet.

There’s some nice things about the Brontë Parsonage in here - and the writer’s spot on when she talks about visiting being a pilgrimage. I’ve not been back in just over a year now, and I miss it
