Finished this one today, and it's at once both too big and too small.

There are too many years and characters explored in its 387 pages, leaving countless narratives unexplored or forgotten.

I enjoyed it but I'm left with a feeling of frustration at what it could have been. Pachinko it is not.

1. Two years ago today, my debut speculative fiction novel, New Gillion Street, was published by Fly on the Wall Press. As we watch with horror the madness unfolding in Minnesota right now, my little old book has been on my mind a lot…

I'm very much enjoying this, but the comps are Pachinko and Half of a Yellow Sun and it isn't a patch on either of those books.

Just booked a trip for my wife and mine's 10 year anniversary. We booked it through a website specifically designed for get aways that are good for dogs.

It costs extra to bring a dog.

Yay capitalism!

I'm doing a free event at Oldham library at 1pm. It's being marketed as something different to do on your lunch break, so if you're in the area do feel free to come along and bring your sandwiches. I'll choose a reading that won't put anyone off their food.

I assume Slow Horses gets better, because the first episode was so bad. The most clichéd boring nonsense.

Just saw an author on Instagram being very open and transparent about their success.

They spent $22,500 of their own money on press and publicists.

Normal people like me don't stand a fucking chance.

Peadophiles must love the internet: a thread.

Last year I realised the only way to truly get rid of a sponsored post on Instagram is to block the account.

Since then, I've been blocking like mad. Not just sponsored post accounts but anything I don't want to see.

I currently have 9701 blocked.

I'm currently reading Dunbar by Edward St Aubyn and whilst it's well written, it's also like:

I don't care about the problems a billionaire faces. They don't face problems. No billionaire has ever faced a single, actual problem.

Yes obviously Dunbar is a fictional character, but the point stands.
