Why does Fly on the Wall Press exist? 💭

We're here to break down the boundaries in traditional publishing, and promote stories that push forward voices that have been disregarded.

It's time to challenge ourselves through books.

For the first time, I’m going to write a novel with multiple POVs. Ive spent the last two days mapping the story and how the four characters intersect. World building, concept and themes are mostly done. So far, I think it’s going to work, although I may need to up my planned workcount 🫠

Musk and Thiel are essentially mainstreaming racist narratives in a way we haven’t seen since Birth of a Nation and Gone With the Wind popularised and sentimentalised the Klu Klux Klan

Subverses by Mirko Boncaldo is a collection that treats the poem as a site of refusal, resisting authorial entitlement and inviting interpretation as a shared, destabilising game.

Firstly, they're all available from @srlpublishing.bsky.social now!

Secondly, they're not strictly romance books...

A truly great fucked-up horror movie! It’s very rare I ever see this one mentioned online. It’s a personal favourite of mine.

I’ve since added another 6 fiction and 4 nonfiction/academic books to these shelves. I just fucking love Weird/New Weird fiction. It’s time to admit that I’ll only ever create odd/quirky/strange novels that will struggle to get published, but you write what you read, so fuck it 🤘🏻

This is my research shelf for my end of year project for the masters… It’s basically just an excuse to read weird af fiction 😋

I’m planning my end of year project for my masters, which is also a book. The urge to giddily jump headlong into writing is powerful but I MUST resist! I haven’t done enough character mapping or worldbuilding. Rushing will only mean a heavy edit and a sloppy story.

Stop. Take a breath.

It's almost like being fabulously rich doesn't make you happy or well adjusted. It's almost like it makes you sad and lonely. And leaves you forever casting about for scapegoats to offset your deep self-loathing. Thank you Jim Ratcliffe and Elon Musk for these important life lessons.
