Sing it again, brother.
While I love seeing Matthew Betts’ work on The Terror (rightly) acknowledged in the Frankenstein companion book, this is Erebus erasure and I will not stand for it

While there are SO MANY things I love about this film (Porthos the Pirate!… You’re right, something red… One less mouth to feed 😁!) my favourite is that in the middle of it all, Kiefer Sutherland manages to avoid having the film completely stolen from under him by being a genuinely good Athos.
You know what, if you're feeling a bit down in the dumps, the 1990s Disney Three Musketeers with Charlie Sheen and Kiefer Sutherland and all that lot is actually a damn good watch

I don't know whether it is the #1 Catherine O'Hara accomplishment but the fact that she invented a manner of speaking that no other person in human history has ever attempted for Schitts Creek and made it seem realistic that her character would talk that way felt like a comedy miracle to me

I really hope Mackenzie Crook is as nice and as interesting as he seems, because I'll be *crushed* if he isn't. He comes across as such a delight, with just the right amount of thoughtful weirdness that all the best people have.

‘Watching The Office recently, my heart just sank’ – Mackenzie Crook on comedy, cruelty and being TV royalty
After a very hard landing into fame in the 00s, he decided to take a softer approach – and hit on a winning formula for classic comedy. The star talks about his fantastical new show Small Prophets, hi...

'the UK creative industries — which contributed £125 billion to the economy in 2024 and supported 2.4 million jobs — are being destroyed by an AI sector that... contributed just £11 billion in the same year and supported only 85,000 jobs." www.thetimes.com/culture/film...
All 2.4m of Britain’s creative workers are at risk — and we know why
A new report into the impact of AI on the creative sector makes for apocalyptic reading. The government must act now

I have the best problem. I’d run down my TBR pile, so I bought a couple, and preordered May We Feed the King because it sounded amazing. That’s now arrived, and I’ve been given some books (what a treat!) and now my library reservations are starting to come in and I have SO many things to read!

All of these - but particularly the last one - look like they should become illustrations in a beautiful children’s book about a squirrel called Hazel.

I'm horrified. This image is from the Anthropic lawsuit case, showing the destructive scanning warehouse. I want to know if there's a list of destructively scanned paperbacks. This is NOT the same as the works list harvested via pirate sites, this has got to be a separate lawsuit. 😡#writingcommunity

Oh thank god Bridgerton is back. I can’t cope with any more reality or anything even remotely reality-adjacent. Give me the swathes of plastic wisteria, the ludicrous wigs, the over-top-costumes, the dialogue you’d need a cleaver to cut through. And it’s Benedict’s season, so even better.
